In addition to being based in the US, DDG has had some issues with allowing Microsoft tracking on their DDG Browser. Their search does not have the same issues, but it might be wise to use TorBrowser to search anything you'd rather not explain in front of a judge.

Thank you for this explanation. I wish this were more streamlined, as many users are going to find this confusing and frustrating. In terms of user experience, if something requires this level of explaining, it's probably bad design. I suppose it's really on the app, in this case, so I may write an enhancement request to if I can get Booost for Lemmy to handle this better.

I'm relatively well set up and experienced for that kind of thing. Don't get me wrong, it would suuuck. But I think we'd be okay. I personally would probably not live as long because living rustic is fucking hard work and my kids are still too young to help much. We'd have a rough time of it, but I am confident that with our help my kids would figure out how to thrive by the time my health is failing. So yeah at least another generation or two seems likely even though I doubt I could last more than another 10 or 15 years living that way. Especially given that the first few years would be the hardest.

Best thing about my job is the flexible hours. I get to spend a lot of time with my kids, even do my hobbies sometimes, ride my bike, play video games, cook, visit friends, etc. I mean, I don't really have a ton of time for that stuff after the chores, but at least work doesn't ask much else of me and it's fairly low stress.

Worst thing about my job is it doesn't come with a paycheck. I'm unemployed.

I use Nextcloud to sync them from my phone/laptop/pc to my server then sync to my NAS, then monthly backup to a hard drive, which i rotate out off-site. In progress switching this to another NAS I store off site.

That's what I use for my low intensity projects. I didn't realize the i7 ones were that cheap now, maybe I should grab another.

Awesome song. I also love "Prejudice" which is no doubt more controversial here in the States than his native Australia. His dark and transgressive humor takes a special kind of of person to appreciate it. He's also, IMO, a musical genius, which sometimes gets lost in the distraction of humor.

It's easy to install a different launcher. I've literally never seen an ad on my Shield..And the ads are the fault of Google TV, not the Shield.

My issues with the Shield are mostly the cost and then killing software features.

Same experience with darktable. It seems to do the basics, but the workflow is just so much more cumbersome.
