  • no one should be permitted to create or transmit the likeness of anyone [prior to, say, 20 years following their death] without their explicit, written permission.

I dig the sentiment. I do. And If this were my own fantasy world, I'd agree. But unfortunately, we don't live in the timeline where that is considered even close to reasonable.

  • Well sure, I know that now (much later, only after seeing it on Lemmy.) My point is that a single brief line of text in the app listing could make it clear without the need to google it.

  • A few weeks ago, I was reinstalling my phone and stumbled across Fossify Gallery while looking for Simple Gallery Pro. I assumed they were a shady copycat because their app listing (on F-Droid) makes no mention of Simple Mobile Tools, yet it appears to be a fork. Consequently, I avoided it because it seemed shady. Turns out, SMT was bought.

I would have trusted this a lot more easily if the f-droid listing made it clear what is going on here. Maybe the (contributor to SMT) Dev who forked to Fossify was trying to avoid legal entanglements or something, but it made Fossify seem sketchy if you dont know the backstory, which I had no way of knowing.

Anyway, here is the corrected link to Fossify's github: https://github.com/FossifyOrg

  • That's...exactly what I was describing, all while right up front acknowledging that others might do the layout and process differently. Is English not your first language? If you wont put your cart in the cart return, you are lazy. You seem to just want an excuse to be rude, so i will move on and say good day.

  • That's a clever way to rationalize being lazy. A grocery store operating that way near me would quickly have zero customers. Perhaps your typical layout is different from ours.

Cart returns in the US are typically positioned throughout the parking lot. It is quite straightforward to just return the cart to the proper spot, usually right near where I parked.

If I left my cart just next to my car or something, the next person to arrive would not have a safe place to park, due to the hazard posed by carts flailing around the parking lot. People do so occasionally, of course. If it happens a lot, though, I would turn around and leave. I'm not returning every cart for them and I don't want my car destroyed.

  • just fucking chuckle or don't

Then...what would be the point of the comment section? People know it's a mediocre joke, so there's really not much else to discuss. Without the discussion, why even visit Lemmy at all? I dont get why you would be sour about people drawing inferences and discussing them. You saw the joke and apparently you don't think there's anything else to discuss. Okay. So why are you even here?

  • I suppose one might believe things were that simple if they lacked actual experience in enterprise IT.

Or perhaps you're just not arguing in good-faith because you only care about being "right" and not about actually understanding the use case.
