  • What's the alternative? Not defending landlords; I genuinely don't understand. If you don't have money to buy a home/condo, you're going to have to rent from someone. Until housing is not subject to scarcity, there will always be landlords.

  • Make sure to find other sources before believing anything he says. He repeats a lot of "conventional wisdom" and truthisms that aren't actually accurate. He also has a pro-christian and whitewashed bias to his retelling of some things. I'd describe his channel more as historically inspired cosplay as opposed to retelling documented historical facts.

  • I was a hiring manager for a US company hiring in Kuala Lumpur. I got a ton of resumes with that kind of stuff that's illegal for me to ask. I asked one of the existing employees from KL what was up with it and he explained it's normal there because ethnic Chinese people are disliked there. So a lot of the companies based in KL require a photo so they can throw out anyone that looks Chinese.

  • Her family will sue, and win, for deprivation of life. The city will foot the bill, paid for by taxpayers. The police will investigate themselves and find no wrongdoing, and will face no penalty from the civil suit. Check back in a few weeks where we'll do this again!

  • Normal people don't step in front of moving vehicles in order to create a situation where you can justify murdering someone. The cop should have taken one step to the side, or simply not put himself in harm's way to begin with. Even a normal person knows you don't jump in front of a moving vehicle. Cops are trained to keep themselves out of harm's way, but this idiot skipped "don't play in traffic" day at the academy. Cops are also trained not to shoot into moving vehicles because that creates a totally uncontrollable danger to bystanders. He skipped that day too.

  • Yes, almost 40, USA. I don't currently own a manual, but used to. It was a great way to save a few thousand on a car and it's a lot more fun to drive. But very few cars in the US have a manual option these days.

  • Nobody said the "it ain't much" part. What they said is that 180k isn't enough to be chartering private jets. It doesn't make you "ultra wealthy". Upper-middle class? Yes. But people making that are waaaaay closer to a line cook than to Jeff Bezos.

  • You can't sign away actual rights, but you can agree to pretty much anything else. It's been well established that companies can fire you for any off-duty behavior they deem inappropriate, as long as the reason doesn't conflict with a protected class. This is the same mechanism that allows people to be fired for being a Nazi or participating in the Jan 6th insurrection, even before being charged with a crime.

  • You still need expensive lawyers to defend yourself. Registering a LLC isn't a get out of jail free card and corporations don't shield you from personal criminal liability (unless you're rich, see comment about expensive lawyers).
