  • Canadian values seem to have evaporated in the last ten years. I feel like we're almost unidentifiable when viewed next to Americans in a crowd now. There's still a few big differences, but politically we're in near lock step just a few years behind America. At least, that's the vibe I get speaking with anyone older than 40. Social media has turned Canada into a Kuato-like attachment to America's hip, except instead of calling the shots we're just along for the ride as the host begins its descent into a death rattle.

  • I had a big Waves set for a long time but I spent a year away from home with nothing but a work laptop and got used to free and stock Reaper plugins only. I enjoyed the simplicity so much that I purged my VST list down to what I was using on that laptop. I have some Aberrant DSP, Valhalla, Voxengo, among others. Some instruments too, namely Surge XT, Cardinal, GGD Drums, Vital, Redtron Mellotron, and a couple guitar sims. That's what I can think of right now.

The plugins install via WINE just like they do on Windows, then you sync them with Yabridge for use with your DAW. It was pretty easy to get it all running.

  • Same here.

Migrated my home studio/gaming rig to Nobara this year. The only reason I have Windows still on a drive in my PC is because the sim racing titles I enjoy (mainly iRacing) use anti-cheat and I'm also a little bit scared of bricking my expensive peripherals trying to get them working on Linux. Seems like it's very possible, but I'm still hesitant.

That said, literally every audio peripheral I have works perfect, as well as all my VSTs. Concerning gaming, the only title in my steam library that is giving me issues is Counter Strike 2 which I'm not interested in playing right now anyway.

10/10, would recommend migrating to Nobara.

  • This country fucking sucks, Ontario fucking sucks, and the Fords can lick my sack. Let me tell ya folks, if you don't want to live the rest of your life aching to leave this shithole, don't ever go live outside of North America. You would experience great public transit and would experience the the wonder of walkable cities. Once you return to Canada you'll retch and gag every time you're forced to travel along a stroad or god forbid ever having to walk along one. I'm speaking from experience.

You have to be an actual troglodyte to think this law makes any sense at all. Unfortunately, that's exactly who Ford is targeting with this shit and there's way more of them than I ever imagined.

  • Thanks for your perspective on this. I'm certainly not trying to be judge, jury, or executioner here but my concern is that its become pretty clear that many in the society I live in are completely content assigning those roles to themselves and I find that to be concerning.

  • Nope. That's not what I am suggesting at all. I literally said that I don't think there's any other option besides vigilantism, which to me presents a difficult situation to reason through.

I'm allowed to find this situation conflicting and ask about other's people's thoughts on it to help me understand my own.

  • Bruh, chill out for a second. I'm not for a minute mourning Brian Thompson. You're living in too black and white of a world if you don't allow people to ask questions about complex topics like this. What is self-evident to you might not be to others.

Sorry I wasn't able to crystal ball your perspective into my mind before posting. I'll remind myself to read your mind in advance next time I dare to ask a question.
