Idk, there was an expansion released like a month back so it’s probably experiencing a spike in popularity.

Also if you don’t know I’m alluding to the fake season names it uses which are portmanteaus of real month names. Decebuary, Aprimay etc

I always thought the Chinese Room argument was kinda silly. It’s predicated on the idea that humans have some unique capacity to understand the world that can’t be replicated by a syntactic system, but there is no attempt made to actually define this capacity.

The whole argument depends on our intuition that we think and know things in a way inanimate objects don’t. In other words, it’s a tautology to draw the conclusion that computers can’t think from the premise that computers can’t think.

I think that people don’t really understand what it means when they claim they have no plans to retire. My in-laws are always saying things like “I’ll work until I die” while they take out debt to go on vacations but they recently brought up that we should make sure to get an extra bedroom for them if/when we buy a house. The disconnect is infuriating.

If command was just the control key moved over I wouldn’t have a problem with it, the issue is that the control key still exists and is used in a lot of applications, often inconsistently. It’s a constant frustration to me when I hit the wrong one either due to muscle memory or simply because I forgot how each specific application is set up.

The argument for separation the command and control keys isn’t entirely wrong as using the control key for gui shortcuts was always a bit of a hack, but OSX doesn’t actually have any way to enforce the separation there, so it just makes the user experience worse in 3rd party applications which weren’t written primarily for OSX, which is unfortunately the case for most applications I use.

The command/control split is a constant source of annoyance. I really wish they would just abandon that one and get with the rest of the world.

Interesting, I admit that I didn’t realize until I just did a little research that persistence hunting as a significant feature in early humans isn’t actually well supported by much if any evidence.

Are there other theories on why humans seem to be almost uniquely good at distance running? Is it a spandrel?
