  • Yeah when you consider who he's related to and what he's been through he seems almost well-adjusted. Coulda turned out a lot crazier for sure. I mean they pretty much tried to create an American royal family, look at the results from history in that kind of aggressive human experimentation, could have been a lot worse. Better luck next time, Bene Gesserits.

  • Pretty sure it's Mushi-Shi. I generally ain't an anime guy but that series is good.

  • Bets measure opinion differently, and sometimes more accurately than phone or internet polling. Money talks.

  • Still the Vance-Walz debate Oct 1 for some potential change for either candidacy. Voters think they know both VP picks but we won't really know who we're dealing with til they go head to head.

  • Polymarket is still showing ~50-49 Harris, less than a point. A tossup.

  • Despair is also a key party platform. The more hopeless someone is, the more likely they are to invite catastrophic change like Trump promises.

  • It's definitely worth your time, not like Kings other books, more dark fantasy adventure than horror. I enjoyed the first few books in high school and finished the series as they came out in the following decade. Quite a trip and very original and deep worldbuilding.

  • I'm not on Bluesky, what downsides are you seeing in their app?

  • Non-compliant patients who “do their own research” on the internet.

In the US they advertise drugs directly to us, we're expected to do our own marketing-guided research to speed along the transaction.

  • I was picturing a graphical map with circles for the communities at different sizes for the amount of traffic. It could be based on proximity for how much overlap there was in user posts and comments, and also by category, color the circles by instance maybe too? Like make it waaay more visible and accessible than Reddit. Somebody must have the chops to make something like that here, right?

  • A lot of the people that did inspections like that likely retired because of the pandemic, there's a huge loss of institutional knowledge that's happening out of view in so many fields.

  • They moved against the gays when abortion stopped being such a wedge issue, which itself replaced school integration to turn out the bigot vote.

  • Are the Dharmic faiths particularly inclusive of queer folks? Or just by comparison? I don't know about Buddhism but China is somewhat antigay, and it's not like the Kama Sutra had any gay stuff in it, and with all the erotic Hindu temple art I've never seen any gay stuff going on. Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong in my amateur assessment here

  • Although the polls have a 3-6 point spread favoring Kam nationwide depending on who you ask, it doesn't seem insurmountable for the party of dirty tricks and ratfucking. Plan for a surprise Trump win unless Harris Walz starts pulling out all the stops and endorsing further left policies and putting on a harder charm offensive.

  • Nobody wants to promote 988 in this thread? Smdh

  • So weird that he's going after McKinsey here...

You have women who think that truly the liberationist path is to spend 90 hours a week working in a cubicle at McKinsey instead of starting a family
