  • At time of writing, the top posts on this sub are about meta's influence over politics, the enduring value of physical media, someone made an art gallery in doom, and Meta's lack of censorship and how that affects minorities. This community is absolutely on topic discussing technology news and if you think otherwise, you are being absurd.

If you're looking for articles about how some university claims they've invented a new battery 1 million times as powerful, stop diluting yourself. "Corporate shenanigans" of big tech companies IS TECHNOLOGY NEWS. Any statement to the contrary is pure hallucination about a world that never existed.

  • There was a hot dog place by me that would bake hot dogs, like a full sized pigs in a blanket. One of their dogs had blue cheese and is unlike any other food I've had before or since.

  • Statistically, people may tend to blow their lottery winnings and end up broke if they take the lump sum.

Financially, the lump sum is the better option because if it's well invested, it will grow faster than the full payout over the term of the full payout. It turns out that if you have near unlimited money for the best financial advisors, you will make a lot of money.

  • Notice how it doesn't explain what's going on in the pattern that got it to number 6. It's just a guess. If push comes to shove, anyone can make a straight faced lie that whatever option is the correct answer, they'll just avoid explaining it.

  • That sounds like a really low-value way of committing terrorism, while simultaneously coordinating across 3 cities. More likely, all drone shows outsource their collision avoidance software to like 2 companies and one decided that they won't waste their money on quality control.

  • It is (almost) always a good time to buy a house because it will (almost) always be good to own a house tomorrow.

Remember the alternative is throwing away approximately the same amount of money every month and never seeing that money again.

  • Notice how they don't post the bitrate, because even the higher one will be extremely low. Every streaming service has been dropping their bitrates over the years, Netflix and HBO are the worst offenders as I've noticed. It probably saves them a ton of money, and 90% of their customers won't notice because they're on their phone while watching in the background.

To make it weirder, I'm confident they boost the bitrates on their new releases to get the approval of the enthusiastic viewers, then drop it after the reviews are in.
