  • Youtube shorts.

Imagine you're a gamer, one who is interested in game Design. Your view history has games, gaming, game design, but it's also full of algotrash talking heads, scam baiters, shit slingers. You open the YouTube app on your phone, and it immediately opens to shorts, you don't remember settings that as the default but it's fine, you recognize the creator and the 45 second clip was neat. Swipe up. Next video, it Nile Blue dropping a beaker of chloroauric acid. Next video, its Chris Boden yelling about some kind of electrical infrastructure you don't understand (and that's pretty cool). Next video, Thor, speaking softly, explaining an aspect of game design that you never thought of. This one catches your attention, its in your wheelhouse, its something you're genuinely interested in. You click the profile, swipe through a few more shorts. Your algorithm is permanently damaged. Your a pirate software fan now, whether you like it or not.

Or you can use freetube and never see algotrash talking heads in your feed and never enter into this cycle.

  • If you're using an Arch Based distribution and have access to a USB keyboard so you can use standard HID drivers during setup you should be able to follow along on this wiki to use the software included in the ASUS Linux stack. It appears they have some nonsense going on. Tbh I didn't know about this until looking just now and I'm gonna be going through here and getting the tools I need since I've got an ROG mobo I think would benefit

  • Have you ever done Speed Dating? Where you have 5 minute dates and if it goes well you arrange another?

It's kinda like that, except it's presented in the most shallow way possible and wrapped into a skinner box. The apps are so full of bots (usually scammers/phishers) that most of the matches you recieve will be fake. That's means there's a little dance with every new person you match with while you both figure out if you're talking to a human or not. Beyond this, the apps are somewhat anonymous in a dangerous way. You don't know if you're meeting the person you say you are until they show up in front of you. Sometimes you match with someone and their personality isn't what they say it is.

They're fine, probably just about the worst way to meet someone as a long term partner. I've had good luck with hookups on dating apps, but I've had the WORST luck actually dating on them.

Edit: Autocorrupt changed Dance to Dangerous

  • I love ____.

I preferred ____ original flavor, but this new ____ is pretty good too. The flavor is a bit toned down, a touch more ____, but not nearly as ____. Compared to a baseline of 7/10 on ____ original flavor, I'd say new ____ is a 6/10, solid, for the masses, but your average ____ conoissieur will fine themselves disappointed.

  • Porcine slang is quite versatile in English!

Pig: someone unkempt or otherwise undesirable.

Pig: an officer of the law.

Hog: to keep all or most of something to oneself.

Hog: a motorcycle, specifically a Harley Davidson or Indian Motorcycles style bike, rather than a sport-bike

Hog: I'm jorkin it right now, and by it, let's just say...

Swine: a relatively outdated generic insult (ex "you uncultured swine")

Pig-out: to engage in excess, to act as a glutton.

  • People I know who don't like Cats don't like them because they expect them to allow them to cross all their boundaries like dogs do. You can't expect a basically wild predator to respect your boundaries, you can however respect its boundaries and that is where the folks I've met who dislike Cats fail. They try to hold it and get scratched because it didn't like it. They overstimulate it and get scratched because the cat didn't like it. I've seen SO many people who dislike Cats because they don't understand how to approach an animal with caution and respect, and think that because the wild predator responded to discomfort the way a wild predator would do, that Cats are bad or evil.

Edit, to clarify, my comment was about people who say Cats are evil, not about people who simply don't like them.
