In all seriousness though it'd be really nice if people stopped sharing memes making Linux look hard. Its literally the only readily available easy to use option that doesn't spy on you, the people need to not be scared of it.
Hon I think you maybe misunderstood your chem class.
Carbon is carbon is carbon and doesn't know or care if it's in a living body.
Carbon-14 has a half life of 5700 years. This means that through random decay, the approximate rate of decay is one half of a given amount every 5700 years, this of course breaks down when you reach the single-digit quantities of atoms.
Now, this has nothing to do with the stability of an atom of regular-ass carbon-12, your common garden variety carbon, which is extremely stable and would require outside influence to decay into another isotope.
This is clearly a bad faith argument and I won't enter into debate with someone who is defending a transphobe. My right to exist is not on the table, and that you'd defend the right to of someone who would advocate otherwise to do so says a lot about your priorities.
My Linux PC is a media server/htpc with access to all codecs. I regularly transcode H.265 via nvenc for jellyfin.
You must ensure you're using a client that can use the codec in question, regarding proprietary codecies like H.265 you will need either a desktop client that can handle it, or verify you have your browser properly configured.
Is there a specific codec you're concerned about losing access to?
The arch wiki page here lists all the common video codecs as well as packages to install them, assuming you're on an unlocked steam deck these packages will work, otherwise you'll need to source them yourself.
Barely related but you've spurred a thought into mind:
Would a hive mind or other gestalt consciousness even have the drive to reach the stars outside of circumstances involving potential extinction? I feel as though a GC who has reached the galactic stage would perhaps (almost necessarily) be a fanatic assimilator that had assimilated a race who has a drive to be spacefaring.
My theory, a Terran like imperialist force hailing from a dead world attempts to colonize a habitable planet, only for the colonial force to become assimilated into a fungoid hivemind who has never considered life on other worlds, nor that their world could potentially not be eternal. This spurs action in the hivemind, a drive to expand to other worlds to secure their eternium, and with this newfound difference in thought a drive to assimilate more and more species to see just how different thinking can be
I like to think of tankies as Anakin Skywalker in that scene on the Grass with Padme. Anakin is gently explaining his hopes for the future, the wonderful world he wants to build, but when asked if people disagree he says "then they'll be made to", revealing his authoritarian streak. To anakin, like the tankie, seems obvious that an ultimate authority is necessary to shepherd the people into their eventual utopia, by force if necessary.
Many recognize the goal of a far left state is to whither and die, but the tankie forgets that power begets power. A dictatorship of the prolietariat is all well and good until a well spoken wolf in the finest wool takes the reigns. Power does not corrupt; rather i believe it is corruption that seeks power, and like dragons those corrupted by power will not give it up, and will do anything for more.
Former tankie turned anarchist. Talk to the Tankies. Learn from them, they have points.
Engles is full of shit ("On Authority" is little more than a business owner complaining that people don't like authority, and using natural laws of the universe to justify its existence by diluting the definition of authority such that any type of power over anything is considered authority. While this is not technically incorrect, it is a gross oversimplification of what authority means) and is the primary basis for how authority is justified on the Auth left.
But when they tell you to read something, go read it. They shitpost hard, don't eat the onion, don't feed the trolls, but engage in genuine conversation *recognizing that you will never agree and using it as a learning experience *
Between ages 13 and 18 if I received a phone call it was because I was in trouble, so now when I get one there is a pang of guilt and panic over whatever it is I could have possibly done
I use an HTPC that happens to be powerful enough to be a gaming PC, I also have a media server facing the internet for use on the go.
Most of my pc use nowadays is for media consumption and analog to digital conversion for backups (VHS to HDD and eventually M-Disc for long term storage).
I do a bit of emulation, most of that is done with an ARM handheld PC but it's an SP form factor and I don't really think it counts. I do a bit of PS2 emulation as well on my HTPC but mostly just to verify good rips of my physical games which I have backed up.
This is corporate propaganda. /s
