You were going 17 over the posted limit, as per your story, and weren't aware enough to know about it.

You know that you can drive a car you don’t own right?

You know it costs money to gas, maintain, insure, and/or rent a car right?

And not every person who is ticketed is driving like an asshole. I got a 100 dollar ticket for driving 57 in what was normally a 50 km zone, but there was brand new signage up that I had literally 4 seconds to read (I went back and timed it) that gave: months of the year, days of the week, and hours of the day that the new 40 km/h speed limit was enforced. But because I can’t read at the speed of light while driving down the road, bam, ticket.

Fact of the matter is you were speeding before they adjusted the sign, it is your responsibility as a driver to obey all posted signage, and if you cannot abide by the rules of the road as well as be capable of reading and responding to signage I do not believe you should be allowed to drive because you are a risk to everyone around you.

You deserved that ticket, and I wish they had suspended your license until you were retested.

The school zones in my area are 30kph, and a lot of people find that excessive and want it slower, so 50 is wild to me.

Poor people generally don't own cars, and if you can afford to own a personal vehicle, you can afford to pay for driving like an asshole in one.

Where do you live with a 50km/h school zone? That is psychotic.

People vandalize speed cameras

Toronto city council decided last week that it will install "larger, more visible and clearer" signs to warn drivers where automated speed enforcement cameras are located in the city.

"HEY VANDALS! THE SPEED CAMERAS ARE OVER HERE!"

This is very true the idea would not be the savor but just a pair of hands to help. Also in this scenario remember I know the future so i could have a greater impact but just having that information.

What can you do that would benefit a movement in the 1960's?

What information do you have that could change any of the outcomes, how would that information change the outcome specifically, and why do you believe changing history wouldn't negatively impact the progress of those movements?

Sure, there will always be toxic people virtue signaling for attention, but it’s not any less toxic to shame someone when they are legitimately trying to help.

This is about a very specific example, i.e. going back in time to "do it right this time", and I can assert with a high degree of certainty that any random "privileged" person leaving our current time would not be up to the task of helping those causes.

The crazy thing is even when it is poisonous there is an audience for any taste. People are strange, and I don't think we ever advanced from the stage of infancy where we explore the world with our mouths. lol

Create an in depth history that can be verified by anyone as true, and take control over the world using that made up persons perceived power. Then things are going to get messy for a bit while I impose my view on the world. If things go well I can hope I will be benevolent in the end. If they don't, purge all data of myself again and start over.

While this idea has good intentions, the "privileged savior" is a toxic one. It assumes that your help would be accepted, appreciated, and necessary to "do things right". It also assumes that you wouldn't fall in line with the majority for your own safety, which I am willing to bet is more likely than not given the measures taken against those who supported those movements.

I got it pretty bad being born in 1989 because of my ancestry, and I cannot imagine going through what my Dads generation went through. The only people I see taking this deal likely exist in a position of great privilege and excess because they are the only ones who may improve their conditions by going backwards.

Not quite true, I think. Thanks to education, literacy, better nutrition, we have been nearing the level where the old ways are nowheres -nearly- as crude, unthinking and hurtful as they were for 5900 of those years. All the scamming has been laid out for everyone to see. And now, we get to choose.

You believe at about 1925 we shifted from "crude, unthinking, and hurtful" old ways and have made substantial progress in the last 100 years away from excessive resource consumption, constant war, and constant injustice for the majority of people living in the world today?

All we have is technological advances. As a civilization I would argue that we have made no progress, and we simply repeat histories of feast/famine, war/peace, justice/injustice because we are stupid animals.

One would think after approximately 6000 years of documented history we would have worked the bugs out of this whole "civilization" thing if we were truly intelligent or making progress.
