What's the difference between what people online call "narcissism" and people just being too intellectually lazy, ideologically confused, emotionally weak and developmentally immature to accept their wrongs because they understand why it's in their best interest and that it's the moral thing to do? Cause that can all change easily, it's not something just embedded in you like being trisomic/being background anxious, and people have the moral responsibility to do so.

I think it's mostly a semantic argument: nothing is being "teleported", it's a copy. That copy will surely be a perfect copy of me at time T, and after T we'll drift and become different folks, but a copy of me is not me, and if you punch the copy it doesn't hurt me. SOMA showcases it pretty well! Anything else cannot even be conceived, right? And even if matter could be "transported" FTL into a different place, wouldn't the "zipping" process destroy me? The silver cord would be cut, and even if the person on the other side wakes up feeling like me, I would already be gone. It's consciousness and the vessel for consciousness, not one or the other.

It won't be me and, unless I have some loved one there, I'm not thoughtlessly jumping into suicide.

It's the same with everything, really. You'll just have to add "oh but I'll just leave it for later but that day will never come..." to the end of your thoughts and you'll become more successful at not unnecessarily hoarding, lol. I've had to add and change several of my thoughts in order to work in society without feeling like a danger to myself and others!

I learned languages for the same reason I learn most things: mere curiosity and the self satisfaction of improvement. I moved to France cause I knew French and I married a Brit cause I speak English, so if anything languages make things interesting. If you don't learn things simply because learning is fun and it's better to put something of value in your brain than nonsense then, idk, shame on you?

Anything that helps society eudaimonily? What else would it be? A baker has legitimate employment, a grifting politician doesn't. If you're a moral relativist you might say things like "but goodness/usefulness is subjective!!!" but that's just intellectual laziness and autistic fence sitting, in reality things are very clear cut besides a few examples.

Not only that, but someone who's either stupid and/or immoral enough to continue doing this. If you've reached that level of intellectual laziness and personal responsibility, you might as well just coin flip every decision you make...

It's a beautiful song! The lyrics are very touching and realistic... but the West lost its heart and depth sometime in the last century (people used to dance to "Baby Come Back" and Barry White, there used to be real emotion, real lyrics and vulnerability in display, now we have Ice Spice). It's poetry with a chill melodic base, those who don't care for the poetry might not appreciate it and I guess that's fine and expected.

Simply because I wouldn't have met my wife, I suppose I wouldn't have. Also, being on the more "conversational" parts of the chans as a late teen made me (perhaps surprisingly) very empathetic and more merciful with my judgement and actions, and helped create a bigger "barrier" of human understanding between the words I hear/read and my reaction to them (very helpful as a hyperactive, sensitive guy!). But most of my ideology's "building blocks" come from very old and popular books, so maybe I would've developed into it/found my way to it, just a bit later. How could I know? 😅

We are, but only the truly simple minded can be thoroughly swayed and changed into an antisocial beast of propaganda, tasked with toil and consumption. So, there's no need to vilify "the algorithms" or their results... there's nothing wrong with YouTube recommending me a Japanese "Careless Whisper" cover from the 80s, based on my previous input. 😅
