  • Also available,

    dnf search [package name]

    flatpak search [package name]

And just wait until you learn about pwd, cd, ls, man, the list goes on!

And then aliasing, I have a combo of cd and ls I aliased to cdls, it's glorious, and I'm still a beginner too!

Dude go to youtube and search "bash basics" and "linux cli basics" and watch a couple of them, and follow along in your terminal like you're taking a class. Be careful with sudo or su but otherwise you should be fine! Welcome to the beginning of a new and wonderful journey!

  • You're still knowingly accessing something that someone paid to create and you're gaining a benefit from that in entertainment.

And how do you feel about adblockers? By using one you're depriving sites of the ad revenue they'd gain off of you reading their article or watching their video, etc. Do you use one or are you raw dogging the internet so that the content servers can harvest your data which they sell to serve you targeted ads?

  • Honestly there is something to the idea of pretending a joke is personal experience, as it's always funnier. Like, instead of saying "so this guy was talking to his neighbor..." I'll say "so I was talking to my neighbor yesterday and.."

The real issue (well besides the possible racist connotations) is this joke is SO overused, this is the fourth time I've seen it while scrolling this thread. At least give a different variation like "-andra" (dashandra) or "beu-ious" (bodacious lmao I'm actually kinda proud of that one).

  • Not to mention, it's not theft because the original is still intact.

If I go steal a car, I'm taking the physical item and depriving the owner of said item.

If I download a movie, the movie is still there, it has been copied at best, not "stolen."

It's like watching a baseball game from the fence, sure you didn't pay for the ticket, but you're not occupying a seat so that someone else can't pay to use it.

If I download a movie, it doesn't take it off netflix so nobody else can enjoy it.

  • Thank you! I had no idea what "bloom" was (clearly, because I called it glow lmao).

This is at least close enough, if not perfect, especially if I can (and I expect so) change the background to the aperture logo (which can easily be found in the correct orange/brownish color online).

  • Good question, I'm not sure. From using a desktop wallpaper on my android before however I can tell you that in practice, whatever happens with your cache, it just crops the image to fit your screen. It can be a problem if you want the full design, but with a one color image, you'd never be able to tell.

But hell yeah I can understand being way too lazy to care, though still then I wouldn't be saying "there's no option..." because there is, you just have to supply the image, which is really very easy if you did care to do it.

  • On my Android phone, for some inane reason, there's no option to just use a fixed color background

    Uhhh...

Literally just use the same one that's on your pc? Just KDEconnect that file over (or find any online pic of a solid color wallpaper, whatever you choose of course), and click:

    settings>wallpaper and style>change wallpaper>my photos>nav to your file>set wallpaper

(This is why all linux help is CLI, damn GUI nav trees lmao.) But yeah why not that? Works on my machine.

  • I'm still just trying to get my terminal to look like the Portal (1) Aperture Science screensaver, but for some reason last time I tried I couldn't get it just right. Now that I have KDE (and thus color picker and Konsole), I should try again..

The hardest part is the glow effect on the text I think.
