  • Character limits are a bitch to be fair. What's wild to me though that you seem to think abbreviations were invented alongside texting by today's youth, not y'know ancient Greece using IMP for Imperator on their coins and shit.

Sure, they got more popular in the late 1800s in English, but I don't think you're that old to be calling 145yo people "kids" lol.

  • Oh yeah thermite is fun! Definitely didn't make any as a kid off of a "lifehacker . com" (dead site, don't visit) video that claimed it could melt through an engine block or anything like that...

We didn't have any spare engine blocks but it'll fuck up a dumpster pretty good...I uhhh...suspect.

  • W10 wouldn't get past the pin screen (type pin, then black screen forever, nothing else), so I used a live boot disk of fedora to rescue my files (turns out you can just bypass windows pins and mount the drive), then installed fedora on my old toshiba satellite and never looked back. Few years in I upgraded with linux in mind and now am cruising with a Framework 16. No regrets.

Join us! Cast off your shackles! Microsoft has no power over you beyond what you willingly give them!

  • Yes lmao, where you been? People want to be offended now to the degree where they look for things that aren't really offensive but they can use it for sympathy likes.

Maybe I just have tuned my ability to notice it from years of "nothing is ever good enough" parents, teachers, and employers, but it's literally the same mechanism that made my mom say "well a B is good but you need to be getting As. (And later) Well that low A is good but you need to get it higher." Or my boss just always saying "faster faster" no matter how much "faster faster" you go, so I now just say "you got it boss" and continue at my pace instead of breaking my back just to hear "faster faster" again in response like he's some kind of weird Gull that gained the ability to mimic human speech it can't comprehend. It all comes from the same place, plus a dash of clickbait.

  • I want to make a drone and a dropper for meshtastic and totally-not-weed purposes, I wouldn't be making bombs, but I gotta say, it really isn't that hard to make bombs if you did want to.

Sure we can't get the RPG heads to duct tape on em, but a primer positioned over a pin, some gunpowder and lead shot, a weight in the front of the shell to ensure it falls right, and a 3d printed shell will be pretty effective against soft targets. "Conveniently" for bombers here there isn't much armor to contend with in the streets, nobody has tanks/BMPs or even pelvic plates on their carrier (hell not even many plate carriers day to day, even though people do have them.)

Hell, the Boston marathon bombing was done with a pressure cooker from Kohls and nails from Home Depot, sure those can't be drone delivered, but explosives aren't actually unobtanium, you just need to do a little more work.

And again for the FBI guy in the back, I'm not making bombs, I'm using it for radio, and I don't even have one yet because I wanna try and find one I can program to follow me to extend my radio range (which I'm like 80% sure is possible.)

  • Go for a popular/"beginner" distro (basically mint or fedora or fedoraKDE, or Bazzite for gaming) so you can search up anything you need, and before you install anything test it all out with the live boot disk you created; keep backups and don't be afraid to fuck up, at worst you reinstall and you can script much of the set up process; and do not be afraid of the terminal, learn its secrets, watch a "bash beginner" and "linux terminal beginner" video or a few on youtube and follow along like it's a class, you'll be fine.

That's it, you'll have specific questions later, but for now that's all you need.

  • No it isn't and I'm old too. It's either butt rock, dad rock, pop, rap that's actually just pop now, or terrible country. Barely of each is even passable but there's a few gems in each except for the country which would need to go older or play Charley Crockett and they won't.

And there's still good stuff coming out, it's just (as usual since like '97) it gets no radio play outside listener sponsored or college stations. Satellite excluded, terrestrial only.

  • Hell still sometimes I'll type "flatpack" instead and it'll just say "hey dumbass that's not a thing," but even then I just go "lol whoops" and fix it, no problem!

Like sure learning the commands is an adjustment but once you learn a couple I still think Linux ends up being easier for simple stuff like that installing/updating, etc.

  • Dude tbh I had to install chrome on a friends laptop last week (not because he couldn't, just because we needed it and I happened to be the one on the keys), and I legit couldn't do it for a sec. I had to go to google, google "google chrome," get the DL page, dl, run installer, etc.

I literally said "goddammit why can't I just type 'flatpak install google chrome' in the terminal?!" (Would have gone with apt/dnf, but I wouldn't know his sudo password, though he could have just entered it had it been needed).

I can barely install an app on windows (anymore), and I think linux is actually easier as long as you don't have to compile from source. Less likely to get Gogle-Chorme.exe too..

  • If the gauge is soups and friuits V dry then sure, but it should be juicy and moist inside (I'd say enough so that it can be eaten sauceless if you wanted). The inclusion of sauce is not necessarily indicative of dryness, they're also used for flavor.

That said, seems you're pretty close from this description, and yes the "sauce" here would be the syrup. And buttermilk is great too, didn't notice the type they used but you can do either no problem!

  • Note for the IR, a Flipper Zero works too and the pokemon silver mystery gift files are already in the Flipper-IRDB (here's the data if anyone wants the IR file)

    Filetype: IR signals file
    Version: 1
    #
    # Mystery Gift for Pokemon Silver captured from Game Boy Color
    #
    name: PkmnSlvrMystGftLink
    type: raw
    frequency: 38000
    duty_cycle: 0.330000
    data: 241 551 340

Also you can use it to trade in any pokemon with a separate board using the GPIO with a link cable and app, which can be handy if you don't have two consoles but do have a flipper or friend with one.

There's also a rom that, if you have two GBC and a flash cart, you can use to manipulate mystery gifts and choose what you want, and a way to do it with a rPi. https://projectpokemon.org/home/forums/topic/43930-mystery-gift-reverse-engineering-of-ir-protocol/

  • Yo thanks for posting this. It's frustrating as hell to not only be one of the 95% who have never raped, but one of those 33.3% of men raped by women (twice, actually, two different women, three if you count GFs crying and threatening suicide every time you're not in the mood until you give in, not sure if counts), and still get treated like I'm some crazed rapist instead of a victim due solely to my gender.

  • Ok your chicken shouldn't be dry, that's never good. Waffles are bread, so I guess they're dry, but that's why syrup. I don't know european waffles from normal but I can't expect much difference, and of course none of that HFCS syrup, real maple only, but I'd expect nothing less from europe who isn't tied to HFCS like we are. I really couldn't tell you without recipes or at least seeing something in a pic, but you've got something off.

I just searched and found this recipe, I sort of skimmed, but it looks on the level. It should be something like this, health be damned. Fruit optional.

  • Is internet

    Not safe

Come to my old neighborhood if you want to find out what "not safe" is, none of my friends have ever been stabbed on lemmy, three of my friends have been stabbed around the neighborhood, and two robbed at gunpoint. The internet can't hurt you.

I know what you mean, but stuff like this always sounds so strange to me after living in actual dangerous places lol.
