I feel this so hard. I fucking see you. I'm very much a extrovert. I enjoy going out and doing things with people MUCH more than I do being at home. I get hype when I get to plan something, whether that's at my house for a D&D session or out and about around town (or even vacations). I'm also a "more the merrier type", which means everyone is invited and I'll genuinely talk to you/make sure no one is left out. I just like people.
But after a certain amount of times being stood-up/flaked on in the final hours, I stop with the invites. I stop asking for people's opinions on if they want to do things with me. I stop planning. And I just kinda disconnect from people.
I've had introverted coworkers and associates tell me "I like to be invited, I just don't always like to go. But I want to be included."
But bruh, it hurts my feelings too when I get so excited to hang with everyone and you bail regularly. Clearly at some point I have to accept that I'm just not your cup of tea, and you're prioritizing other things. That's okay, but it doesn't mean I have to accept continuously being knocked down by you because of it.
Imma take a stab in the dark and say that you're your friend groups "planner" friend as well. It's really fucking frustrating to try and plan something as simple as a dinner that requires reservations, and people are like "Um. Uh. Maybe I'll come, idk", up until the last minute. Or even a headcount for food being served at your house.
I do contemplate the merits of having a home phone with the ringer perpetually on silent, and that being the only number I give out to places like Spirit Halloween whereas family/friends get the cell.
When I was in Germany in 2022, I traveled freely around Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Czechia. I only got asked for my Passport in Switzerland, and then at the airports. Otherwise, no, you'd just be driving or on a train and the signs would change to French suddenly.
I loved it. I wish we fucking would relax our shit in the US. It was hella neat.
Gross! I just looked him up! He legit said in black and white "I do not support abortion however we cannot have an outright ban", and still got the House DNC to back him up?! He only supports the rape/incest/risk to mother - no support for women not in a financial position to raise a child!
Ugh, man, sometimes I get really optimistic about Texas pulling its head out of its ass, but more often than not I'm reminded as to why that's just simple copium as someone stuck here.
???? Which candidate in Texas are you talking about? Admittedly, I'm newer to Texas politics, but Beto O'Rourke was pro reproductive rights. So is Colin Allred.
Edit: Also Mike Collier seemed to be campaigning on women's rights as well, though his main issue was the grid.
Or, lol, what's really happening here, is that we're all going "Oh yay, they're using their influence for something good. That's one more tool to fight the MAGAts with."
But I forgot, this is the internet and we should just be straight up pessimistic and ask "Why are they even bothering? Don't they know it's useless?!?!Silly Generals, Democracy is dead."
This is true, to an extent. They can be much more vocal (publicly) than anyone currently serving, without fear of reprisal/loss of benefits.
However, these retired O's definitely have enough money that should they want to abandon ship and move their family elsewhere, they absolutely could. They don't have to get involved anymore, so I like that they're taking the time to do so. It shows that they still gaf.
A group of retired Generals/Admirals are the ones who convinced Congress to repeal DADT back in 2011 so our LGBTQ+ brethren could openly serve.
I understand that the entire Government has changed since then, and it's an entirely different branch of the Government that they're petitioning, but fuck, this gives me hope.
These people do still have some sort of influence, and they're attempting to use it for good. That makes me happy.
"Letting the states decide" is how those of us stuck in deep red states got to where we are now. It's not good enough. And I hope it doesn't sway middle-of-the-fence voters in blue states to think he "won't be that bad".
It only takes one election cycle, and those states can flip red too.
Bruh, Kate Cox, actually got a judge in Texas to agree that she should be able to get an abortion because both her AND her baby were at risk of not surviving. Her baby, unfortunately, wasn't going to live long if it made it to term anyhow, it was going to have a difficult short life full of suffering, and she was at risk of dying if she delivered. She also already had 2 children at home.
And Ken fucking Paxton, the Texas Attorney General, fucking overturned the judges allowance and Kate Cox ended up having to flee with her husband to a different state to get the procedure instead.
It was the quintessential "Hey, I'm dying, I need Healthcare" and the Texas government going "LOL get fucked." I cannot imagine what her and her husband went through mentally. To know that the government was actively stepping in to prevent anyone from saving that woman's life.
More people need to see/hear/know about what's happening in Texas. These ads need to highlight how much worse it really is here after the repeal of RvW (and it was pretty fucking bad before).
Bruh. That is literally a scenario I'd expect to see laid out in an email message in Cyberpunk 2077. Or the background for a Cyberpsycho story.
How fucking dystopian.
