  • Yeah, I feel like there is a lot at play even in terms of how the content is paid for. Maybe netflix only gets the ad money and not the creatives, in which case they don’t want their content on the ad version. Either way, the customer suffers.

  • Niche communities happened naturally over time on reddit as well. You need to grow the larger base communities first, since you’ll be gathering the numbers there. Then you branch off. The only other option is for you yourself to build up the niche communities by posting more often, it’s a lot of work.

  • 5’5 / 165cm. Finding brands that fit me took a few decades.

I came to terms with my height a long time ago, but other people didn’t. I am glad I am married and not on dating apps anymore, because it was filled with profiles with the exclamation “Needs to be 6ft tall”

  • When I was 7. It was late one night and I was walking around (when I should have been asleep). I noticed my mother finishing wrapping a present and she asked me to place it under the Christmas tree. I think it just slipped her mind in the moment and she didn’t realize what she had done. I didn’t say anything, but I knew from then the presents from Santa were from my parents. I wasn’t sad, but instead felt like I was just let in on a big secret.

  • A thing that upset me when I went to college (15ys ago) was all the fluff electives I had to take. More than half of my classes were not associated with my major. I was looking into getting a masters a few years ago and one of the requirements was American History, again! I learned all of American history in elementary school, and all of it again in middle school, and all of it again in high school and again for my bachelors and I need to do it again for a Masters? Add along more sciences and math classes for an art related major. While I understand in building well rounded students, a lot of it seemed like it was meant to just beef up the number of classes I needed to pay for.

The number of electives needed was also enough where you only had two options.

    1. Keep your part time job and take additional winter, summer or night clases and pay extra to get them in.
    2. Have no job and fill your whole schedule with classes (each class was 3hrs long)
  • I stopped wearing a smart watch about two years ago when all the notifications were bothering me. I had gotten it for free so it didn’t bother me that it was sitting there. I was always obsessed with watched as a kid, but as an adult I never stumbled upon any watches I deemed worthy and unique enough for my wrist. One day I stumbled upon a vintage watch on instagram. 2yrs later I now own about 20 vintage watches (quartz, mechanical and digital).None of the super crazy ones that cost thousands, though those look pretty amazing sometimes.

  • When the MCU started I don’t think people considered Iron Man, Captain America, Thor as A list. They were just the properties they weren’t able to sell off yet. Doing these movies was a big gamble. They needed to succeed so they put their best effort into them and it paid off.

  • Mine was going to be a step further. Too many Jedi and Sith. If you want to keep the force, sure, but do something new. The Witches of Dathomir are the only real new thing with the force since the first movie. You can count Bendu and the Mortis Gods, but they were very minimal. It seems like only Filoni wants to expand the universe.

Hell, I think Season 1 of Star Wars Visions had every episode about the Jedi/Sith, it wasn’t until season 2 that they started breaking out of it.

  • Ocarina of time. All Zelda games since are to some degree compared to it in terms of how successful it is monetarily, gameplay and story-wise. So many modern adventure games are based on this one game. It’s the game that finally made target tracking in 3D work. It’s so well thought out, that a blind streamer is able to play the game probably better than I ever will. If most common people know of “zelda” it’s because of this game. There are so many memes from Zelda in general. It’s one of the few games from my childhood that I will replay for the rest of my life.

  • Don’t feel bad if you don’t click with it. I love puzzle oriented games and while this was the most unique experience ever in a game (and I suggest all people try it), it was really a mental challenge getting through this game. I actually abandoned the DLC, because I honestly reached my limit. You have to really love repetition.
