...but how do you argue point 2 and still buy netflix? Netflix has also gotten considerably worse over the last few years, just in different ways. And they not only charge for it but increased the price several times.
Even if you remove the jobs, it doesn't create jobs. If you remove those jobs the people who were taking them are still there.
Where do they go when the jobs are gone? Is this just meant to force those people to change careers? Did your wife's skillset transfer anywhere or is she still unemployed? Or did she get a new job that has nothing to do with translation?

I...really don't think it was ever about engagement. I think most free users just didn't have an adblocker.
I think ublock orgin's adoption just picked up over the years, and it's not as if Youtube gets cheaper (I'd imagine it just gets more expensive)
I mean engagement is great, they make the algorithm work (well, "work") but I'm pretty sure the ads were the selling point (for google) before premium was even an option.
