  • It doesn't always work, but I have to just remind myself of games I played and finished in recent years that didn't have any goal other than "Finish it"

It helps me remind myself I don't need some daily/weekly/monthly/wtfisthisshit goal, that the day isn't wasted because I didn't do those things.

  • ...but how do you argue point 2 and still buy netflix? Netflix has also gotten considerably worse over the last few years, just in different ways. And they not only charge for it but increased the price several times.

  • I mean, if you use creators without quotations, it gives them a bit more money and gives you no ads.

Vs having no ads and giving them no money.

Sure it's still not great, sure if you like the creators they deserve more, but it's not the worst thing in the world if you have the money to spare.

  • The general argument legally is that the AI has no exact memory of the copyrighted material.

But if that's the case, then these pixels shouldn't need be patched. Because it wouldn't remember the material that spawned them.

Is just the argument I assume would be used.

  • Obviously this is using some bug and/or weakness in the existing training process, so couldn’t they just patch the mechanism being exploited?

I'd assume the issue is that if someone tried to patch it out, it could legally be shown they were disregarding people's copyright.

  • Steps to forum posting:

    1. Side with your favorite
    2. Realize both sides are kindof shitty lt;-- You are here
    3. Realize that despite both sides being kindof shitty, one side is definitely careening off the side of a cliff and trying to take everyone with them
  • Even if you remove the jobs, it doesn't create jobs. If you remove those jobs the people who were taking them are still there.

Where do they go when the jobs are gone? Is this just meant to force those people to change careers? Did your wife's skillset transfer anywhere or is she still unemployed? Or did she get a new job that has nothing to do with translation?

  • Okay so...which of the things in the picture or discussion is color painter?

Is it in any way related to KDE Color Picker?

I feel like of all the things you've said so far, all of which have only tried to discourage the OP to get an answer, and not actually answer their question.

  • I...really don't think it was ever about engagement. I think most free users just didn't have an adblocker.

I think ublock orgin's adoption just picked up over the years, and it's not as if Youtube gets cheaper (I'd imagine it just gets more expensive)

I mean engagement is great, they make the algorithm work (well, "work") but I'm pretty sure the ads were the selling point (for google) before premium was even an option.
