Maybe we can start by looking at all the corporations who are most supporting him, and push hard for boycotts. It might be slightly indirect, but corporate partners do seem to have the most influence on policy decisions. Maybe we could make a document in the style of the PrivacyGuides project to help people choose alternatives to fascist supporters.

I've seen posts on Mastodon calling for the general strike as well.

You also have to keep in mind that it sucks to be a vegan sharing a meal with an omni. Even with access to plant-based options, we're still required to be surrounded by what we see as gore, and people consuming gore.

You know how smokers can't smell smoke as well as nonsmokers? When I stopped consuming animals I was surprised to find that all meat, no matter how fresh, smells rotten. And everybody who consumes animals smells faintly like rotting corpses - especially during and right after eating.

In light of the west's heavily animal-centric diets resulting in most of the top causes of death in these places, it's not exactly accurate to call us omnivores. The centered on whole plant foods our diets are, the better off we are. Animal flesh, dairy, and eggs, at the very least, cannot be consumed without increasing progression and risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes (Ignoring a host of other harmful effects like cancer and autoimmune disorders, which is more contentious).

It would be more accurate to say that we are primarily herbivores, but with an incomplete and dangerous emergency system for omnivory.

I could be wrong, but it sounds to me like you're conflating things. Sheep, in their entire life cycles, are harmed and violated in a variety of ways. Considering they are forcibly bred, that aspect of their exploitation is arguably sexual assault.

The survival of the fittest narrative was debunked almost as soon as it existed, and that debunking is what forms the ideological basis of mutual aid. That people continue to spread this toxic misinformation over a century later is a testament to the unfortunate tenacity of lies.

Even in the most brutal depths of the natural world, cooperation is still the overarching basis of ecosystem health. It's known in Permaculture, for instance, that too much competition results in resource depletions.

A vegan ethic is inline with a growing awareness and need for us all to learn to expand our capacities of empathy and compassion, from those who are most like us, to those who are most unlike us.

On the topic of wilderness areas, vegans are divided on what the right approaches are. Some of us compare natural biomes to sovereign nations - while we dislike the harms that occur in those places, we feel a need to allow other species their independence to have their self-determination, if for no other reason than the fact that nature is the basis of maintaining a habitable planet, and interference in ecosystems should only be done with the utmost care.

But there are other vegans who do believe strongly that we should be intervening in wild places as well, with the goals of eliminating predation all together, and managing wildlife populations in more ethical ways.

It's a highly contentious topic to be honest.

Or for other options you can checkout LineageOS. Filter by tablet to see which ones are supported, and that can help narrow choices of tablets that can be made privacy-respecting. Just make sure to use a version that does not have gapps on it. Once you use LineageOS's site to find a supported tablet, you can go to the MicroG for LineageOS site to download the MicroG version of the OS. This comes with a set of alternatives to Google spyware so you can use your tablet completely free of Google.

I've had an e-ink device, and read ebooks on a number of devices. Some notes:

• If it's a casual read and I can get the book in epub or mobi format, I might just have it on my phone and use Librera.
• I did not like e-ink displays at all. The text itself doesn't appear easier on the eyes to me, and if anything the jarring refreshes on each page turn make the overall experience even more straining. For this reason regular Android tablets have become my preferred way to read books.
• For tablets I suggest one that is at least 10 inches. A lot of ebooks are still only available in pdf format, and I've found that anything smaller than a 10 inch display makes for bad pdf reading.
• Following from all that, I would suggest the Pixel Tablet, because from a privacy perspective, you have the option to install GrapheneOS on it. From there you can get F-Droid, install any of those ebook apps, and now you have a reasonably secure and private ebook reader - and the best part is, because it's a general purpose tablet, you're not accumulating unnecessary single-purpose devices. You never know if the tablet might have other important uses down the line.

I think wages are going to continue being a problem as long as the people who choose our pay are the same people who choose the price of goods and services. Even if raising minimum wage is frequently shown to not raise costs, business owners should not be in a position to hold us all hostage by making those threats in the first place.

Yup, that's what was implied in the first part. Depending on the genetics of a pandemic h5n1 though, the possibility does exist that current vaccines might be better than nothing at least. Even a 1% difference is huge on population scales.

Don't know how much it's going to count for when the h5n1 pandemic hits, but it's probably going to be easier to get a flu vaccine now than any time moving forward, so probably wanna take care of that sooner than too late.

Personally, when I can afford it I'm going to go for the OnePlus Nord N10 5G. I don't feel the need for the more stringent security hardening on GrapheneOS, so basic LineageOS MicroG is enough for me.

I hate the lack of a headphone jack enough to make that tradeoff, vs a Google Pixel.

Anybody whose been plant-based and/or vegan for some time can vouch that targeted ads very frequently are not about what's actually relevant to the user, but more what their favorite corporate partners can try to gaslight you into believing is relevant. On both Facebook and YouTube I would get so many more ads and video results for animal products after making the switch, despite seeking out solely pb/vegan content and actively blocking and suppressing animal abuse content.

Recently finished one playthrough of Torchlight 2, so now I went back and am doing a playthrough of Torchlight 1.

Just as a sidenote, tempeh is actually a whole food. It's whole beans, fermented, which has the added benefits of making the beans more digestible, and reducing bloating.
