I think it's another one of those things where words and phrases change meaning over time.
Righteous is equal to justifiable. Indignant is equal to showing anger.
Logically, it should mean justifiably angry. Often times, people will just ignore and skip over the first word and will only properly read "indignant".
I think it's similar to when people say words like "irregardless". They use it to mean "regardless". If you break the word down, the double negative makes it a positive. It looks like it should read as being the same as "regarding", but people had other ideas lol
Another fun one: "eggcorn" has been added to some dictionaries as a synonym for "acorn".

I think I've decided to not publish anything that I want to keep ownership of, just in case. There's an entire planet's worth of countries, which will all have their own sets of laws. It takes waay too long to polish something, only to just give it away for free haha. Someone else is free to do that work if it is that easy. No skin off my back.
I think it's similar to many other hand-made crafts/items. Most people will buy their clothes from stores, but there are definitely still people who make beautiful clothing from hand better than machines could.
Don't even get me started on stuff like knitting. It already costs the creator a crap ton of money just for the materials. It takes a crap ton of time to make those, too. Despite the costs, many people just expect those knitted pieces for practically free. The people who expect that pricing are also free to go with machine-produced crafts/items instead.
It comes down to what people want, and what they're willing to pay, imo. Some people will find value in something physically being put together by another human, and other people will find value in having more for less. Neither is "wrong" necessarily, so long as no one is literally ripped off. (With over 8 billion people, it's bound to happen at least once. I feel bad for whoever that is.)
That being said, we'll never be able to honestly say that the specific skills and techniques that are currenty required are the exact same. It would be like calling a photographer amazing at realism painting because their photo looks like real life. Photographers and painters both have their place, but they are not the exact same.
I think that's also part of what's frustrating so many artists. Coding AI is not the same as using the colour wheel, choosing materials, working fine motor control, etc. It's not learning about shadows, contrast, focal points, etc. I can definitely understand people not wanting those aspects to be brushed off, especially since it usually takes most of a lifetime to achieve. A music generator and a violin may both make great music, but they are not the same, and they require different technical skills.
I'll never buy AI art if I have any say in the matter. I'll support handmade stuff first, every time.
It's good for that person that they aren't feeling the loneliness mentioned in the article, yes. The poster IS feeling that loneliness, though.
Was it necessary for that person to say that in response to someone who is saying that they are having those bad thoughts and feelings? Probably not. Are they a bad person? Probably not.

I mean, it's good for everyone who doesn't feel lonely, but that person feeling good still doesn't really help people like the poster who do feel lonely.
I don't think the commenter is wrong necessarily, but it should almost be expected to get less than happy responses from the OP, especially with the context.

Some of the people in that reddit thread are unreasonably angry that some people moved to Lemmy.
I'll never understand loving a company so much that anyone who doesn't like it is automatically deemed a bad person. Why is a stranger's choice of social media so personal to some of these people? Why are they so livid?
I'm not even going to quote the specific comments I'm referring to just in case I get banned. One of them was comparing the entire lemmyverse to the subreddits that were banned over explicitly only having content about hating strangers for existing.
I'm happy I left if that what I'm "missing out" on.
IIRC the protests in Canada were also super controversial, especially for the people who lived there at the time.

Even stuff like bitcoin would be susceptible to your concerns about government overeach. Investing could also easily be a crapshoot, because your entire life saving would still be reliant on someone who doesn't know or care you.

I think that the other person was right about them being meringue.
There are a few different types of meringue that you can make, and there are also meringue cookies. I've had some before and they were almost exactly how you describe them.
This might only be me, but when I'm constipated, my go to is hydration and lettuce.
I'll get myself a nice big salad, and eat it super fast. The idea is that if you eat it fast, you won't chew as much. The partially unchewed lettuce can help irritate your guts into doing a bit of a clean cycle. (Plus, veggies are already great for constipation.)

I didn't see it coming, but the entire department I worked at during my last job was laid off only two weeks after i started my new job. The cheeky buggers waited until people left for the Christmas weekend to call them and tell them.
Yet they act all baffled and suprised when people quit.
I can only speak for myself, but that's exactly why I left my last job. I loved it and the people I worked with, but I couldn't afford that pay rate with such poor benefits.
On my way out, they told me that they wished they had 10 more employees like me.
They didn't want it bad enough to pay even one employee a little more, though. I am not the only person who left recently lmao
Part of me wants to be upset, but especially since these are clothing manufacturers, I have to wonder if the people handling the returns have the same problems that I did when I used to process them.
It was my first job out of highschool (through a temp agency), it was my first day, and I did some returns. You know, writing down what the products were, why they were returned, the order numbers yadda yadda.
Everything was cool until I got this package with a LOT of sharp pins in it saying "you obviously need needles to sew the clothes properly". There was only ONE thread loose, and this lady felt that making a complete stranger find sharp needles hidden in fabric was ok. Part of me hopes that that person finds the same kindness in life that they seem ok to give to strangers. Part of me wishes that it wasn't such a common thing.
Some returns had legitimate rotting garbage in them, and a lot of them were only worn once and then were returned because they "only needed it for party, need money back now". You can only see so much ridiculousness before you have enough, you know?
As a former employee, the fact that that company essentially paid for those needles and for the rotting garbage to be sent for other people to deal with was enough to make me quit. It's not worth my health, full stop. It never will be. That incident also made me lose a lot of faith in most of the general public. Part of me wishes that that particular person experiences the same level of "goodwill" that they give to others. I don't like wishing ill on peopld, but I also don't want to wish on good things for bad people. Most of us manage to submit returns without including a hazard, and it takes next to no effort at all. I don't even have to think about whether or not to do that, personally. It's a no-brainer.
As long as the in-person returns are still valid (within reason) and it's stated very clearly that online returns will cost money before purchasing, I don't really see the issue. Just put that information where they will read it (or hear it if it's voiced) and it should be OK.
It will help save the people who still have to deal with these insane returns for minimum wage. Fuck the overhead profit, and fuck the people who take their rage out on random minimum wage employees. (Don't do that literally ofc.)
Take it up with the people who might be able to actually do something to fix your problem, if you're that angry about the product. I will absolutely think much less of you if you personally take out your business complaints on the minimum wage employees.
I don't know about this commenter, but don't forget that everyone is different.
Hypothetically, you might be good having kids in you thirties, but one or both of them might have a condition or disability that gets worse with time.
I know people in their early 20s with bad arthritis, and a lot of people want to be able to chase after and run around with their kids. Sometimes chronic pain/illness can remove that option.
You can both be right, you know. Many of us also agree with what this person was saying.
I used to want kids. I will refuse to have kids unless I can afford them, and until I can GUARANTEE that their human rights won't be stripped away by the whims of stupid people who are completely disconnected from reality. I won't bring a new life into a world that's rushing towards climate oblivion, either.

No kidding. Just earlier today, I was looking for a kind of niche tool used to wrap pallets in plastic, and I found nothing on google about it. It kept showing me everything BUT what I was looking for.
On bing, I found just about all of the information I needed about it. Turns out it's niche partially because it's made in my province, which I also found out from bing. Almost no one knows what I'm referring to when I mention it. It combines the technology of machine wrapping and hand wrapping, and it makes warehousing much easier sometimes. I wanted to recommend it to someone. Thanks Bing!

You're making it out as if there's an easy solution that makes everyone happy.
It's always odd when people stretch inclusivity to mean that absolutely everyone should be able to freely breeze past any and all possible barriers, with no effort.
Internet security, you guys. There has to be SOME minimum activity requirement, or this whole site would be swamped with an insane number of bots. There are multiple written tutorials and video tutorials that tell you exactly what to click and when, in order to sign up. How much easier does it need to be to join? What can you do beyond a video walkthrough for account creation? How the hell did they join reddit? I just don't get it.
Sometimes these topics kind of remind me of people like the parents who argue that babies and toddlers belong at raves and busy nightclubs. Sometimes having multiple different groups are ok. You don't usually see videos about how to fix your car on the cooking channel. You also don't usually get proper accounting advice from random insect documentaries.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not about telling other people how to dress or what to wear. Not at all.
To be honest with you, I don't really go on twitch. When I made my comment, I had some of my earlier experiences with lemmy on my mind. I just turned off nsfw in my app settings though.
My main reasoning was so that certain things didn't show up when I was showing something else to family, or if a coworker saw my phone over my shoulder. There are some jobs where you really don't want your boss to see certain things, but most other forms of slacking off are ok.
For me, it wasn't even about anyone's chest. It was not wanting furry porn haha. They really should have thought about this before instating it.
Now people will be upset regardless of what they do.
