  • As someone who spent a lot of time learning html/css and wordpress to get a site i'm ok with, but not thrilled.

I'd say skip wordpress. I think it's overkill for a portfolio. Mine is just a personal blog, and i'm about to sign up for the $9 a month Ghost Pro hosting with a free theme. I'm over the plugins and getting nickel and dimed for features.

Like others have mentioned, a static site generator may be good too.

Also, it isn't open source, but i really like blot.im. I use it for Obsidian.md instead of the built-in publish because it's a lot cheaper, and it's close enough in appearance/quality.

EDIT: Actually, it looks like I was wrong. Blot.im appears to be open source too.

  • I was having a hard time anyway, but after reading through all the comments, I don't think I could narrow it down.

If I had to try, it would be, in no particular order:

    The Matrix

    Princess Bride

    Fight Club

    Shawshank Redemption

    The Boondock Saints

    The Incredibles

    ...

    Actually, I can't narrow it down....lol

  • My wife and I have been working our way through Studio Ghibli movies for the first time. So far we have seen Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, and Kiki's Delivery service. Thoroughly enjoyed them all, but i'd say Spirited Away was me least favorite so far.

Not sure exactly why, but I feel like all 3 of them could have benefitted from some extra runtime. Parts just feel rushed to me. Or maybe I just don't want them to end. Lol

  • I never really saw the need for Termux, but now that I selfhost at home and on a VPS, i couldn't go without it!

Also, I just recently started switching as much as I can to a self-hosted ntfy instance from pushover. I'm really loving it so far!

I sponsored it on github because I see myself using it a lot. Plus, the dev deserves it. The documentation alone is great, let alone the software itself.
