  • Chrono Cross. You can accidentally write out all the endings of the game if you try to play without a guide.

Also Mordor 2. Completely procedurally generated world. The game literally can't tell you where to go, it doesn't know.

  • I made a spell in Morrowind.

Ranged, Targeted, 10ft radius blast centered on target.

100 points of damage per second of frost, flame, poison, and shock damage. Totalling 4000 damage over 10 seconds.

    Paralysis for 15 seconds.

    I called it "Die Bastard!"

  • In 1990 my father negotiated a new contract for himself, with IBM. He's a computer programmer consultant that can program in 72 languages including Cobol and Lisp.

The one thing he absolutely insisted upon was that he wouldn't have to carry a pager. He still refuses to carry a cell phone.

  • I did food delivery as a second job for about 20 years. In the late 90s and early 00s I averaged $20 an hour thanks to tips. I finally quit in the mid 10s because the tips had been steadily dropping, and I was only averaging $12 an hour. Given your experience, I would guess that delivery drivers are making less than $10 an hour these days.

  • Quick tip that you may or may not remember. The "diced onion" is actually dried onion flakes, they dump them into a bucket and fill the bucket with water. You can do the same thing with onion flakes and a bowl in your kitchen, and that avoids having to cut fresh onions.

  • Most people aren't really familiar with the history of the world, especially the period of time that would correspond to ≈ 30-50 years before they graduated secondary school. I assume this is because there seems to be a pattern where you just don't actually catch up to current events in many history classes.

Also expecting the average person in the US to be familiar enough with world events to even know who Nelson Mandala or Narendra Modi are, is a good way to have a bad time. I don't like it either, but as Carlin said, "think of the average person, now remember that 50% of people are stupider than that."
