  • If there’s no other choice why is it the only app making that choice? I also don’t think that proprietary closed, profit incentivized systems are inherently better. The kbin PWA app is beyond sufficient.

  • Considering it’s removing something it added in the first place? Yes

  • Is it better than just, you know, not using sync? This isn’t Reddit. There aren’t ads here.

  • It’s worth twenty dollars to not see ads that don’t exist in the first place?

It’s worth introducing capitalism to the fediverse?

  • It’s just really weird to pay twenty dollars to not have ads on a platform that doesn’t inherently have ads - a platform that has been purposefully designed to avoid the needs for ads or the trappings of capitalism. To voluntarily reinfect yourself into that ecosystem seems at best weird, and at worst sort of a violation of what the fediverse is about.

  • They really, really are not - from a technical or social lens. I remember an admin coming into a conversation to shut down comments and telling everybody to be nice to the nazis we were dunking on, or else.

They’re Spez - cryptofascists posing as liberals to create a captive audience they can push into the right wing pipeline.

  • These have been going on since they defederated from the Nazi instance but the lefties still get the blame lmao

  • Do you think they’re crypto fash? I’ve really been getting that impression

  • Google liberalism

  • If the rule is fifteen pieces of flair you shouldn’t need to be like pretty boy Bryan and wear thirty seven to be on the law’s good side.

  • Not very well, though, which is why I’m surprised so many people are eating it up. I have noticed lemmy world is probably the most liberal of the instances, as well as the one with the biggest fascist presence. It really is the instance that feels most like Reddit 2.0, in the worst ways.

  • That’s a different instance, though, right?

  • The statement literally says, “follow the rules of the instance you’re in.”

    This reaction is very weird.

  • Florida passed some laws about how you have to talk about the “good things” slaves got out of the whole involuntary bondage deal.
