I have been using adblockers for decades already. And it’s been that long since I had to see ads. Occasionally some site will have some way of it getting through but even then I have the plugin scan and it sometimes can start blocking it. Essentially, my internet has been 95% ad-free and frankly I am surprised when I encounter anyone who doesn’t do the same.

Ok so abusing the reporting system totally justifies a ban. But voting I think it’s just that the mod is unhappy about the vote direction; I really meant that I thought you meant there was like some objective reason. It’s just spite. That’s not really a desirable behavior but what can you do. We’re all human.
If it does what you need and you cannot find any articles anywhere specifically calling attention to a security problem or anything like that, then you rate it “useful” I mean it’s not too complicated.
WTF? I have to say this makes no sense to me. I think you need to double and triple check, try another facility perhaps? Something. To cover a colonoscopy but not anesthesia is unheard of, and even freakin Medicaid would pay for it.
Remember in the late 2000s when it was discovered they were literally breaking a slew of lending regulations, giving mortgages to people unqualified for them, etc. etc. you can lookup the details but basically they were raping the country’s banks, and then when they were found out, they retired with multimillion dollar retirement packages plus bonuses. And the banks got the federal government to bail them out.
Biggest fucking grift in history and it was not long after the auto industry did the same fucking thing. Again and again this shit happens.
So don’t be under any delusion we could cause any kind of actual consequences to the ultra rich because they’ll just line us up and take the shirts off our backs before they pay a dime.
Eh, I don’t really think any are particularly unusual. Although I have tried some over the years.
I use Firefox on all my PCs which are all various distros of Linux, as well as Chromium for some things. I have a few sites setup as their own webapps using Electron, so essentially also chromium. I just installed Vivaldi recently to try for some things I need to test, haven’t started using it yet. I also try out different ones now and then.
Safari on my iOS devices as well as Aloha, OperaGX, occasionally Firefox but their iOS implementation is really sad. Some others now and then, but that’s mainly it at the moment. There were some I stopped using for one reason or another. Long ago I used Brave for a little while until I read about their agreements with some ad companies so that’s out. I really like Phoenix browser except it’s got some issues. Osiris, Puma, Dolphin, ugh so many that come and go if I need something temporarily.
No yeah I actually agree with what you’re saying. And no of course I don’t mean a trainee or student. I think I may not have been thinking of the same scenario as you. OP was very difficult to follow I don’t know if it was translated or something. I’m thrilled to hear that training on the job is finally happening.
And yes I’m all too familiar with the concept I remember there was a job posting that required several years experience in a technology that was brand new. A few of my colleagues and I would spam them with applications and phone calls informing them of just how stupid they were being with that requirement. Someone didn’t have a clue what they were asking for. Hiring managers amirite.
lol yeah I think you actually understand me pretty well. I have something called standards and when I started working, you had to actually work and work damn well, to keep your job. And I’m not talking about any job but certainly being in charge of maintaining and supporting information technology. And yes, I can say someone who works in IT who doesn’t know what DNS is, is a failure. Sorry if it hurts their feelings but maybe they’re not yet familiar with a concept called qualifications, credentials, experience, expertise, knowledge, skills… you know, silly old fashioned stuff like that.
I also am pretty aware lately that most of the time online I seem to be talking to younger and younger people. So there’s a sort of inequity there because I’m coming from the experience and point of view of a middle aged man and I’m talking to children - of course they won’t be able to relate.
But it’s the way of the internet. Believe me I’d love to interact more with only my intellectual peers but there are not nearly as many of us as there are kids who are just starting out. Shrug. What can you do. I still like to carry on conversation with exchange of ideas.
P.S. I don’t have a problem explaining things to a lay person; on the contrary I love to see a lay person interested and curious about something. That’s how I am about most things. But I don’t think lay person is an appropriate label for someone who is supposed to be an expert or at least works in the field and therefore should at least have a rudimentary understanding. That’s the whole point of qualifications for a position. You don’t tend to get hired when you’re clueless. Although I see that nowadays a little more and more and it is actually frightening.
And the reason they want “small” government so much is what they are really after is being able to do more criminal activity, toxic pollution, price gouging, exploitation, collusion, monopolization, market control, tax evasion, you can continue with a hundred more filthy tactics they engage in.
When they say “small government” they mean “we want to steal cheat lie and exploit, and we want you to shut up and let us. That’s why we go into business.”
There are a decent amount of third party browsers. Many of them, to make things easier, encapsulate a chromium engine, but there is still the entirety of the user interface, options, customizability and additional browsing enhancements that make the experience vastly different and that’s really what most people are looking for. Give some other ones a try now and then, you might surprise yourself and find something that really does just what you want the way you like. It happens.
