They don’t want to protect children. They want only one thing ever: money. Therefore you can be sure that whatever is going on, it could be some kind of technical requirement but if it’s not, it’s about money.
Ah ok. Yeah I tried running some game type stuff on the Timex Sinclair 1000 we had in ‘83 but I could never figure it out lol. But Zork, McMurphy’s Mansion, Last Half of Darkness… I even wrote a couple of my own using AGT.
Agreed. I’ve been working with computer tech since I was a kid. I wrote by first program on an Apple in like 1985 or so. But some things don’t have to be teched-up, and although lots of people use it, I personally could never get used to how it feels.
I have been drawing with pencil since the 1980s and I have tried and tried and tried to get used to digital, but nothing compares to physical pencil and paper for me.
What operating system are you planning to use? If you are a Linux user or open to it, you can get amazing performance on older hardware than with Windows. The difference is astonishing, especially compared to Windows 10 or 11.
If you post some details about your budget and needs, it will be easy to make a recommendation.
Need DVD drive?
Need lightweight?
Stuff like that.
In general you can usually trust brands like Asus, Toshiba, and older units like Thinkpads when they were still IBM. Seriously the most vital criteria is whether you are okay with Linux vs Windows. Huge difference in what you would need.
Try music or a relaxation app. I love those. I used to have one where you could make recipes of sounds. I had thunderstorm + crackling campfire + mild creaking of wooden deck as an old sail ship tilts back and forth. Fucking pure opium to my body. I loved it. It’s like the most peaceful combination of sounds I’ve ever heard.
Anyway, I’m always around to chat if you ever want. I barely sleep lol. Also my son has issues like this where he’s online and doesn’t think to stop and rest. We are working on it.
I don’t think we glorify them, but we consider them significant figures in history. Remembering and talking/studying history and significant figures allows us to learn more about ourselves as well as learn how things can be done better than they once were. But I don’t really see these people glorified. Nobody calls them heroes or people to emulate.
It’s pretty good and afaik, free.
