  • They literally refuse to admit that an entire apparatus of a party wanting something, and then a handful of members wanting something of another party are not the same.

Then they have the gall to complain that the democrats didn't personally promise them a pony and a unicorn so they didn't vote.

  • How many billions of dollars in student loan debt did Biden cancel? How much more would have been cancelled if the supreme court didn't act in a blatantly partisan manner?

Yeah, I do hold them responsible. Shumer shouldn't be in leadership and AOC should be on every high profile committee there is.

Not voting solves nothing. You know how you get more progressive legislation passed? By voting for the party that has progressives in it. That's how. More democrats means more people like AOC. It doesn't fucking matter if your personal rep is a god damned blue dog if it means there's one less republican in congress.

  • This shit is so fucking lazy.

Biden enacted plenty of progressive asks during his term. Harris outlined plenty of progressive asks in her campaign as well.

Just because it wasn't 100% of what YOU personally wanted doesn't mean it wasn't good legislation.

Hope none of your family dies because of this, because if they do it's on you, mr protest voter.

  • It's 50:50 two things.

Some Wardrobe guys don't like dressing actors as 'real' soldiers, so they fudge things. The other is that something will aesthetically look 'better' than the real thing so they just go with that. I've worked on a few military projects and it's entirely dependent on the military costumer and what they want to do.

One picture I was a Russian mercenary and they threw random ranks on everyone. The costumer thought I was nice so he gave me an FSB velcro patch that I got to keep, which was pretty cool. Another I played a SEAL and we had some well known SEAL dudes behind the film, so they were very attention to detail on everything so that was really cool.

  • The other side of this is, 'it's a movie suspend some disbelief.'

The idea that every single aspect of a show or movie needs to line up and be 'realistic' is silly, and frankly needs to just die.

    It's pretend.

  • Because it's a movie trope. And if people did it the 'right' way people wouldn't believe it.

Like, phones sound like 'phones' because we have the tech to make them sound crystal clear, but people don't want that they want the phone sound.

  • For sure! I just hate that so many people have strong opinions on this shit then do nothing, don't educate themselves on the problems at hand, and then acknowledge that people on the 'other side' of an issue have actual concerns that do need addressed.

I'd fucking love it if we had our homeless problem under control, and I firmly do believe we would if all the fucking red states would stop bussing THEIR problems here.

I've been in LA for 9 years and I've seen the changes that are taking place. Bike lanes are rampant on the west side, and they're starting to come to places like Weho and others as well which is awesome. We're expanding our subway lines, and things slowly are getting better. I wish we would take a big TVA style initiative, and make some dense public housing districts that were affordable, but that's a HUGE endeavor.

I'd love to get involved with local stuff like that, but I'm currently in a new job, and don't have much free time right now. =(

  • Another thing to think about here is that it's only been about 4 months of this dipshit being in charge.

They are comparing what is happening now to other episodes of revolution or cultural rebellion that took (sometimes) decades to foment enough unrest to cause change.

People are doing things, and we're pissed. But like, what can a person living in LA effectively do? We have blue reps in a blue state that is suing the government multiple times over multiple grievances.

Short of going out and getting kinetic there's not much for people to 'do' yet.

  • Honestly I wish we had the balls to turn LA into New York West Coast Edition. I'm right by the Wilshire line being built, and I cannot wait to be able to take public transit from my place to LAX to Grand Central in NYC.

Thanks for giving a real answer and not jingoistic slactivism nonsense you see so many people spouting on here. <3

I'll take a look at that video later when I have more time on my hands.
