Yup. In MO we've seen not far off of $100mil in state tax revenue and it's only been legal since Feb 2023. At least one city near me was pushed into a surplus because of the extra revenue (admittedly, they were running at a very, very small deficit previously, but still).

The issue is the proliferation of big fuckoff trucks. Had it been another reasonably sized car, it likely would have been a simple bumper replacement for both cars. Instead, I'm out a car for a significant period of time in an area where doing anything without a car is essentially just not a thing.

It's honestly ridiculous. My sedan was totaled last year after being rear ended at a red light at maybe 5mph by a big fuck off truck. Minor cosmetic damage to their bumper, completely crushed the rear frame of my cat.

Thankfully, no one was hurt beyond bruising, which is the most important part.

I've got a pretty decent stomach for horrible stuff. Having unfettered internet access from a very young age tends to desensitize you to a lot of things.

Chrome almost got a monopoly because for a time, it was legitimately better than most the competition. Now you have consumer inertia, and the things that make chrome dogshit are unfortunately not things that the average person cares out.

Maybe it's just a case of hindsight being 20/20, but it in some ways really feels like they were borderline asking to get sued.
