  • I guess, but the comment is a direct assertion against Firefox growing from this change. You sort of prove my point by suggestion another sub variant of the chrome ecosystem.

  • The lack of HVEC/h.265 support is kind of a deal breaker in firefox (windows nightly builds don't count as done). I need it to view h.265 security cameras and the occasional movie streamed via browser.

Edit: For those suggesting multiple browsers I could just use Edge if I wanted to.. still better compatibility as it is essentially chromium.

I have a list of other things that don’t work reliably in Firefox such as various video conferencing tools so no, I am not going to switch to Firefox as my primary browser again anytime soon.

I was a Firefox user for many years but there are too many daily things I use now that prevent me from using it as a primary browser for work and causal use.

  • Ya basically the one that works on the most sites while also not being a PITA.

Being older than the internet and having used mosaic, Netscape navigator, IE, Firefox, Chrome, several short lived mobile browsers and tried Opera a few times. Can’t say I have a favourite as any browser I like that becomes popular also tends to become bloated and slow over time.

  • "Every year, there are fewer letters to deliver to more addresses, adding significant cost pressures to the Corporation on top of continued inflationary pressures," stated Canada Post.

I wonder how long before it becomes a parcel only service.

  • 1 million dollars doesn't go that far these days, at the world scale it is almost nothing.

You could however make a lasting difference in your community by making a scholarship, building needed facilities, or doing something else where you directly make sure the funds go where needed and can't be used for other uses. Lets face it, if you give it to some charities 90% of it will just go to the administration.

  • Other than the basics NO.

The exception would be if you are into a lot of outdoor adventure / climbing / mountain biking / hiking where it will just be the two of you on an adventure. Then it is critical.

If most of your life is in a uban setting it isn't a common or critical skill I would expect.

  • Blower fans had a technical reason to exist that isn’t very relevant anymore.

It used to be to keep the card profile low so you could have other PCI card slots populated. However these days everything including Wifi can be found pre populated on the motherboard. It is rare you put in any additional PCI cards in modern personal systems.

  • Reading through the comments on the video, the only "used to be" part the video creator is talking about is that it is a alien hobby OS that hardly anyone uses or knows about. Don't take that as a negative but he is just talking about the feels. Other than that technically their isn't a lot in common with Linux from the past.
