  • I see your point, but Forbes methodology for verification isn't flawless.

If the 4.8 billion dollar value is based on truth social, that number is crashing. If it's based on his other assets, I don't have much faith in that value either.

To say Trump exaggerates about the value of his assets would be an understatement. He makes up huge numbers that are nowhere close to reality. The big numbers are used to his advantage when it suits him, and much smaller numbers are reported to the IRS.

A quick search on golf courses came up with this story, though there are many more.

The point is, his actual net worth is a bit of a mystery. If the truth came out, I very much doubt it would be anywhere close to 4.8 billion.

  • Wow, just looked that up, and people are spending ~11% of their income on groceries. I was just saying that groceries have gone from a part of my budget that I don't really think about, to the #2 expense, behind my mortgage.

Outside of not allowing mergers for large companies, I would like stronger restrictions on deceptive packaging/marketing. Off the top of my head, shrinkflation items should be required to have a big ugly warning on the label.

  • If we had a different process for appointing justices, her age/health wouldn't matter as much. The problem is that if she dies during a conservative presidency, our already skewed supreme court becomes a radical supreme court, because a Republican will appoint a very conservative justice.

The United States leans left (~54% I believe), but even if the nation is a 50/50 split, a supreme court that is 6/9 far right already wildly misrepresents the people. 7+ leaves most of this country without a voice.

  • "In any angry mob, there are leaders and there are followers. Mr. Johnatakis was a leader. He knew what he was doing that day. On January 5, he posted on social media: “[B]urn the city down. What the British did to DC will be nothing . . .”

This guy is a real piece of shit. 7 years for leading an attempted coup is a joke. This moron doesn't regret what he did. He regrets that it didn't succeed.

  • Thanks for the great write up. I'll take a look at these. I've read a few reviews about keychrons having defective keys, etc. Any issues there?

That's where I was leaning towards, but I haven't ever used one.

  • We do stings in restaurants (for servering underagers) all the time. The fines are significant for the server and the restaurant. I wish they would do stings on mechanics, dentists, and most importantly health care. Wrongfully denied claims should be devastating to the company.

  • Creepy. And I learned something. Reminds me of another comic strip that cracked me up. The gist:

God said to the insects "you may each pick three traits." The millipede said, "I want legs!" The centipede agreed. God nodded. "And for your second trait?" The millipede smiled brightly and said "More legs!" The centipede request the same. God asked for their final request. "More legs!" The millipede shouted smiling even brighter The centipede gave a sinister grin and growled. "Teeth."

  • Nah. I've heard plenty of horror stories from women. None of which were about comic guys. I've had coworkers that were painful to be around. So that wasn't really the assumption.

... That said I'm pretty sure I've read about conventions and ccg tournaments where they had to start making rules because hygiene was so bad.

Either way, best to cover your bases.

  • The hardest part of meeting girls is talking to them. It takes guts to put yourself out there and resilience to handle the rejection if it doesn't go the way you want.

Ask her out. A public option is good. Something she likes. Comics are a good start if that's her thing.

If she says 'yes'. On your date:

    • Be very hygienic (shower, clean clothes, brushed teeth, gum)
    • Ask courteous questions and listen. I have yet to meet someone that doesn't enjoy talking about themselves (yes, I know they exist). This also makes your end of the conversation easier. Favorite music, food, places to visit, hobbies, etc.
    • Have a next place in mind if things are going well, but the comic shop has gotten stale (coffee, dinner, a walk somewhere well lit, etc.). Be open to her suggestions.

If she says 'No,' be respectful, and try not to take it to hard. It wasn't meant to be. Take pride knowing you had the guts to try.

Good luck. Be brave. Be respectful.

  • The really fucked up thing is the origination fee. Banks charge like 1% to do the loan paperwork. Why does the paperwork for a $400k house cost more than a $250k house? Don't the banks make enough money on the interest?

Not to mention PMI, which should just be illegal. Oh you don't have 20% down? Great credit score? Doesn't matter. We're charging you another 2%.

Home sales are a greasy business.

  • There's lots of factors:

    • concerns about battery degradation
    • massive price cuts on new Teslas
    • concern that newer tech will make your purchase obsolete
    • possibly a feedback loop on any of the above

If I needed to replace a vehicle, I would almost certainly get a lightly used EV. Many are priced 40% lower after just a couple of years. As long as I drive it for 5 or so years, the value is there for me.

I personally wouldn't buy a Tesla, because Elon is a prick. I'm sure there are others. It's probably not the biggest factor in tumbling prices though.

  • You would think journalism would be subject to libel laws, but after seeing Fox and company blast lies for decades, I don't have that confidence.

Yes, Fox finally got hit with one major lawsuit for one massive lie, but given all the lies they've run, it shows how far past the line you need to go.

  • Make your significant other a card and a plan for another day. It's a commercialized garbage holiday. That isn't to say you shouldn't have a day to do something nice. But why do it when flowers cost 4x and restaurants are packed? Make it a point to do something next week.

At least that's what we do...

Otherwise cook, make something, go somewhere new in the city (a park, an arm museum, etc.)
