  • It's best not to think of the US as "in trouble" so much as it is a corpse having its organs, fluids, and bones removed by people like the Kochs for quick sale.

The US as a society died and was beyond hope for self repair before the first Gen Z was even born. This is just leftover momentum and the fire sale.

The only "hope" is that whatever replaces this failed experiment is of the fed up people's design, and not exploitation engine 2.0 by the oligarch class that bastardized and doomed this one.

Nothing can improve under the current constitutional framework. Too far captured, too far owned, too far propagandized, too compromised to operate as anything more than the entrenched power apparatus of the owner class.

  • The oligarchs who legally bribe our elected leaders through superpacs and capture their own regulators would never allow that.

This isn't a class war, it's a class occupation. The war was half a century ago, the oligarchs won by convincing the rube peasants there was no class war and so they won without a fight as Reagan enshrined and enhanced their preferred tactics into law.

  • You say that, but history has me concerned.

In the wake of the Reagan grift and our corporate party's conversion of the former worker's party into bribe taking neoliberals into today, our market hyper capitalists got to work metastasizing their model into new regions, in their impossible quest to maintain infinite growth on a finite world.

In Europe The UK fell first. It's practically become a mini greedy us. Germany is embracing it. The French people, bless them, are fighting back but losing. Our oligarchs are creeping accross the globe with the faustian bargain of "Don't you want to live large? Just betray your countrymen and you can live in decadence like you've never dreamed..." It fucking works, just takes a few greedy people in the right positions and a few years.

American style, deregulated market capitalism is a malignant cancer spreading accross the globe turning entire societies against themselves to be picked clean by global oligarchs with allegiance only to themselves and their own net worth.

And I know that you know, capitalists will NEVER STOP in their march to grow/metastasize unless they are physically stopped. There is an invading army advancing around the globe, but they don't kill, they convert people into their own capital batteries, devoid of meaning, subsisting for a small group of sociopaths who see their own species as their private property to extract value from.

It's like the global conquest of the traveling snake oil confidence men of old.

  • I thought we had a labor shortage.

I'll befriend one of these immigrants actually fighting to give their family a better life over one of my exclusionary, self professed "conservative" countrymen born on third base acting like they hit a triple any day.

Also I consider nation state borders to be the imaginary lines that enable the local warlords/oligarchs to entrench their power over their region, and carve up our communal habitat for private benefit. It's a damaging, tribal, animalistic concept that divides humanity on more than geographical terms. Wrong idealogical direction if we want to be a civilization and not beasts at each other's jugulars in the dirt.

  • We'll just have to see, won't we?

Plus, it's not like the climate will just snap back into place when the boomers are finally too old for their skeleton talons to cling to power. That shit is going to take generations of sacrifice to roll back, if it doesn't topple civilization first.

The whole ethos of the majority of baby boomers seems to have been to raze the forest they got to enjoy behind them (as opposed to planting trees whose shade they'd never sit in like most generations aspire to), and they seem to be having remarkable success in that.

  • Sure, I could be part of the solution, But what's in it for ME exclusively?!

I'd rather get sick, or make a lot of people sick, than cooperate with others. I derive my self-worth from how badly others are losing so I can feel like a winner, so it's against my interests to prevent others from from getting sick!

  • Yes, the problem of wealth concentration is going unaddressed and getting worse.

The few with more than they need to live large for a thousand lifetimes using their ill gotten, exploitation derived wealth to exploit more wealth while contributing no labor to the society they extract value from without any consideration, let alone any appreciation for the society that provided the conditions for their great wealth in the first place. In essence, our oligarchs are fracking human civilization, for nothing more than ego.

This is what happens when you pretend a problem isn't a problem, and is in fact our purpose in life. In a crisis, the US's first declaration is that "we must protect our beloved society economic system of systematic exploitation." where else would such a road lead?

  • Either unions have the power to strike or they are begging beggars subject to the whims of capital.

You can't have both, and it isn't a Grey area. Biden chose capital in the case of the railroad.

I'll vote for the feckless crime bill passing, union busting piece of garbage to stave off Jerry Lewis Hitler, but he's part of the longer term problem with this country, and one of the OG neoliberals that surrendered the Democrat party to Reagan the oligarchs economically into today.

  • ALL of a union's power is in striking/the threat of striking, and it needs to be demonstrated regularly. Biden not letting the nation feel the pain of a railroad strike was a disservice to the union movement.

Not winning those concessions through a strike was a blow to the union movement. Daddy came and took away their privilege to fight back, spoke to the railroad, and got their ice cream for them... this time.

They need to have their own power 24/7/365 under any President, or they have no power at all.

How you win is just as important as winning. They need to be a peer that can stand up to the railroad with consequences at any time, or they're on borrowed time before the next encroachment.
