  • I'm against a free market.

I think the market should be chained to benefit society from the bottom up if they want to profit at all.

Donnie is also against a free market, he wants it to serve himself exclusively, which is kind of hilarious since the most selfish class of all is under attack from his greed.

  • If it isn't recognition of the glorification of something that shouldn't even be tolerated and should be legislated out of being practiced with punishments that compete with hate crimes, then no we don't recognize the problem. And most people who are even against Trump don't. It is his signature brand and why he represents our people as they are perfectly. (I voted against him every time for the record, but he is a monument to our culture's sins. He's like the zeitgeist of the United States of America anthropomorphized into human form.)

    That something being avarice.

There was a time when there was mass recognition of the problem, but the Mr. Potters of the world got control when they convinced the masses herp derp you could be rich and shit on your neighbors too! The George Baileys arguing for taking what you need and no more, for community, and most importantly for telling the greed class "No, and by the way fuck you for offering your faustian bargain" lost and died.

The types most laughed at for occupying Wall Street. We clearly don't recognize the problem, because I hear almost nothing about razing the capital markets to cinder. Those rigged casinos that commoditize our very humanity to be bought, sold, and betrayed when profitable, those market's utter conquest of their regulators and government need to be destroyed, their arbitrary tabulations of "value" erased, and currency retied to either honest labor, or benefitting directly those who labored for the value of products/services.

Without that, today is the best day of the rest of our lives, and sadly, few recognize that fact. On the bright side, if we don't, and we know we won't because our population has been made too ignorant to, capital market made climate change will do our job for us and wipe those markets clean, along with every other aspect of civilization in just a few decades. We have no reason not to stop them save our subsistence opiates like social media and fast food, and that, pathetically myself included, appears to be enough.

  • You are giving our species too much credit. For almost all of our history, we merely lacked the technologies capable of terraforming our planet against us for short term profit.

If the kings and feudal lords of yore had the capability to burn the long term future to goose their short term greed disease hoards, they would have.

We're a gaggle of monkeys just barely capable, with great effort, of devising tools with complexities and consequences we're still far too primitive to wield responsibly, nothing more.

I'm of the opinion this is one of those theoretical Great Filters that explains the lack of a loud universe filled with the signals of other civilizations.

Evolution is slow. If complex life is common and eventually leads to intelligence, maybe there's just a common chasm between when when a species becomes... clever enough, because we've proven as a species we aren't intelligent... To split atoms or otherwise alter the habitat of their world technologically, but still sit biologically in the tribal, zero sum, rival monkeys have to lose so we big win! mentality that is necessary in nature but harmful to a civilization, that inevitably leads to self-destruction.

What was the FIRST thing we sought to do with the awesome power of the atom again? Wasn't even a hundred years ago. That's who we are. We could have made a warm light for all mankind, instead we made big boomie boom rival monkey tribe, wheeeeee!

  • And we're STILL not willing to reign in capitalism.

We doomed ourselves. My pity is reserved for all the species we're taking with us in this murder/suicide for short term profit for the avarice diseased. Those capitalists are by far most to blame, but no one that contributes to the capitalist machine, myself included, is without blame for the effectively permanent destruction of our COMMUNal habitat.

Unless you're an eco-terrorist who has been actively trying to destroy the capitalist machine, the precious few good guys as far as I'm concerned if your goal is a viable habitat for our species at all beyond the next couple decades, we've all been seeing this oncomming train heading towards us our entire lives and done nothing of note.

We can't keep living like we've been living, as gluttonous consumers with 78 kinds of plastic packaged cereal made a thousand miles away in any form AND survive as a species, and it's clear which choice we've made. We aren't willing to live closer to the land, to farm the food our community eats, to live small lives understanding we are subject to earth and not the other way around, so we gotta go so life can go on without us.

  • His silence about why says it all.

He isn't sorry for what he did, murder customers in swaths to metastasize private profit in our American deathcare state sanctioned confidence scheme, he's sorry he may face violent reprisal for what he did.

I'm glad he's on record leaving with no apologetic plea, off to count his money from all the murders he oversaw.

When terminal capitalism collapses, coming very soon, and he has nothing of value to pay his guards and security patrols with, the survivors will remember who he is and what he did.

"I... I was just following orders the invisible hand of the market!!!"

  • So your solution to fascism is to... concede to the hatreds of the fascists.

So the Democrats would be different... how then? Dems and Republicans are both bribed to burn society to fuel economic metastasis at all costs, the only thing that separates them at this point are affirmation ribbons you can't eat, wear, or live in(D), and stoking hatred through scapegoating(R) on the social policy side.

If the Democrats get on board with the scapegoating, what are we even voting for anymore? The ONLY reason I vote for them is the harm reduction of not preaching hate as they allow mass homelessness, growing wealth inequity, and defend entire market sectors that have become murderous confidence schemes along with their Republican buddies across the aisle.

Your kind of pragmatism is why we have no real opposition party to the Republicans. Your kind of pragmatism has already brought us to hell.

  • It really is better to be destroyed by Trump and fascism standing for what's right, that being empathetic and logical, than to cowtow to his demands.

Better to die on your feet than live on your knees. I won't be the equivalent of a German who provides silent, obedient consent as they dehumanize the gypsies/Jews/disabled.

  • I consider it insult to say I agree with either of our 2 parties on 50% of the issues. Almost all of both of their policy positions are derivations on "how will this metastasize the capital markets faster" and not "how will this improve the wellbeing of the citizens of society, preferably at the expense/taxation of the capital markets that we kindly permit to profit off of society at all so long as they don't undermine said society to increase their profits"

Both parties would be lighting themselves on fire to prevent the latter. The tail has been wagging the dog for a long time, the fucking profoundly perverse servitude of a society to an economy. It obviously needs to be the other way around or... Well this.

  • I voted for Harris, and voted for Biden before that, and Clinton before that. With shame as I should. Harm reduction, methadone instead of heroin.

It's nothing to brag about. You guys try to make them sound like a good choice, when neoliberals are for the same status quo, only minus the scapegoating. They're just a lesser degree of bad. They're for mass homelessness, they're for entire murder for profit economic sectors including American "Healthcare," they're for ever worsening income inequity, because on economic policy (that informs and often dictates social Ills) they're on the same take as Republicans. Just because they don't cheer and pour the blood they're drenched in over their heads in celebration like Gatorade, doesn't mean their hands are any cleaner.

That scapegoating makes Republicans worth voting against, but you're praising Jack the Ripper in the face of Adolf Hitler. No American should feel anything but shame about only having a extreme right wing party and a fascist party as our only two options. No one should have left an American polling place with a smile or pride for the last half century, it's been a rocketship to avarice diseased oblivion, that Trumpism is just a newer symptom of, not the cause.

Reagan toppled this empire, it just takes an empire a while to hit the ground. We have arrived at a while. Trump is more of a vulture come to feast on the corpse.

  • I'm not going to lie, this is a profitable move by Trump, because his voters will line up to get them to antagonize those outside their in group, as was the entire point of their vote, to harm their enemies as an end in itself, regardless of whether he's able to get the SCOTUS to rule that up means down and no third term means infinite terms for Republicans only.

I'm just looking forward to all the idiots giggling about their own enslavement, as I see anyone wearing that hat as a derivation of this:

  • It's been fascinating watching Bill Maher's brain atrophy over the last 15 or so years.

He's living proof as to why there should be ANNUAL DRIVING TESTS required past the age of 60 to keep your driver's license.

He's always been a narcissistic asshole, but he used to have a few decent insights. I stopped entertaining him when he started his tirade about Islam specifically being the problem. He used to know religion in general was just a vector of control by people with more material aspirations, but conveniently forgot because he wanted to start old man raging which requires cutting power to your logic and reason.

  • If you think your salvation is in the neoliberals that enabled their opposition into getting us here for 50 years, you're almost as deluded as Trump's legion of useful idiots.

The DNC would rather lose to the Fascists than move to the left. The former keeps their shared bribe gravy train running which is the point, fighting their bribers would not.

The DNC either needs to be stolen by a populist leftist as Trump did with the RNC, or get comfortable because if the choice is fascist or neoliberal as it has been for half a century, we will continue to find new depths to descend to until total system collapse.

Fascism is the union of business and state to accelerate metastasis at any cost, let's say we even have another free election, and best case scenario we elect another neoliberal, I can't respect your opinion or consider it informed if you truly believe the Neoliberals will once back in power do a thing to meaningfully reign in the capitalist's governmental capture or redistribute their Ill gotten wealth.

If the Neoliberals somehow get back into power in 4 years, they'll leave the table set for the fascists to march again in another 4. Affirmation ribbons are leaps and bounds better than scapegoats, but you can't eat affirmation ribbons, nor can you live in them. Our mass homeless population, our murder for profit confidence scheme we call American Healthcare, our education system at every level in utter ruin, these are not partisan issues because they would cost big corpo exploited profits to fix, and so both parties protect the status quo from us, the people that suffer and die under them. Fascists point and laugh at you, but neoliberals just shrug and go "market forces, amirite 🤷?"

Oligarchy is why we have Trump. There probably isn't hope, but if you refuse understand big corpo is the enemy of the people and the cause of all this stemming from the Reagan Revolution, then not only will you burn in the fires of fascism, you'll burn ignorant as to why and how to boot.

  • Americans haven't had an honest vote on the shape or priorities of our economy in half a century.

Just the social issue wedges that economy either causes or in some way informs in order to keep us at each other's throats and not at our shared enemy in their towers and guard gated compounds.

Would you like your crony market capitalism with affirmation ribbons or scapegoats? Freedom!

Example: you know what would cause a lot fewer abortions almost immediately with absolutely no bans from getting one when the woman deems it necessary? A living wage that can support a family. But that's a non starter, as it would cost our rulers capital, and lower their quarterly ego score estimates.

The situation will continue to decline until collapse or the elevation of an actual leftwing government, and both parties conspire to prevent that from happening.

  • Then you get to die alone eating cat food while the company you slaved for announces even more record profits and layoffs on the TV.

Thanks for all that can do attitude and work ethic as I drained the sum of your life force over decades, it was just enough to pay for the imported Himalayan granite galley counters on my backup mega yacht, sucker!!!
