  • I use bazzite. I prefer fedora (that's what I have on my laptop) but the Nvidia drivers consistently give me trouble with fedora on my desktop. I'd get it stable for a little bit then something broke. eventually I got tired of it and tried bazzite since I had heard it was better in that regard. I love the out of the box Nvidia support as well as the HDR support with no extra steps. I'm really not a fan of immutable distros in general, I think rebuilding the ostree everytime I need to install a system package not available in any other way is super annoying, but it just works and that enough for me right now. I also enjoy some of the software it comes packaged with, like btrfs snapper and a very comprehensive ffmpeg build. I'll probably switch away from it to try something new this summer, but at least until my finals are over I just need it's stability.

  • is it? do we really think autistic people or others with disabilities won't be targeted by the current administration in the US? they're following the Nazis playbook pretty accurately so far and that was kind of a major point for them. I mean the term Asperger's was coined by a Nazi scientist after performing experiments on the disabled people they rounded up and out in camps.

  • for a phone, OLED all the way. they just look better, behave better, and have better battery life. for anything else, LCD is fine. it may not look the best but it's way cheaper and you have to worry less about burn in

  • you're even more missing the point. the cost of the CPU needed to run such a server is going to be more than the cost of storage by a large amount. it's not about the storage, and it's certainly not something most can do, otherwise we wouldn't be here arguing over it cause someone would've already done it lol

  • maybe your hobbiest server doesn't need a off-site backup but an instance of a massive social media network expected to be used by many users absolutely will. and sorry, but your nas simply will not cut it as far as throughput goes. it's just not designed for that much activity.

  • its still not a small amount of storage. and no, there's still not really sd cards or flash drives bigger than 1tb, but obviously even if there were and they were super cheap, that would still never suffice as server storage. plus, if you're hosting a node you'd want at least 4 or 5 times that storage to use a raid 5 or 6 array + at least one onsite backup, and one off-site backup.

now we're talking thousands of dollars in equipment just for storage, not the actual server itself, internet connection, etc.

  • you wouldn't argue if I said all bears are dangerous, even if some will walk right up to you and let you feed them from your hand. again, you should take your anger at this turn of phrase and devote it to something that actually helps your cause.

and for the love of god, it might be time to analyze where you're getting the news from. if you actually believe the fox news ass all men are rapists line then I dont know what to tell you, your critical thinking might just be fried.

  • then I guess I'm not sure what you're really talking about then.

it goes back to my original point though. if you feel there should be those spaces, no one is stopping you from making them. there were a few subreddits I used to browse (maybe it was mensrights or menslib or something similar) that was super respectful and held genuinely helpful and important conversations about the issues men face. trust me, absolutely no one will stop you from making those spaces. if those spaces you're trying to create aren't respectful, then yes I imagine people might not like that.

  • no one is saying all men are rapists. what they are saying is that the statistics are great enough that women have to be on edge around all men. I wish you would take the passion you have for arguing against a generalization and devote it towards making sure the men around you aren't part of the issue. I say that as a trans women who has seen the issue from both sides. I understand where you're coming from, truly, but having been socialized male I saw that every man has chances to change the people around them and 99.9% fail to do so.

  • yep. the difference is, when women have been disadvantaged they tend to create spaces and pathways to talk about or change it. unfortunately a lot of men tend to isolate, even though they are not alone. then when they see something about a women receiving help through programs created by women for women their feelings of being abandoned by the system come up again. it's just another way that toxic masculinity hurts everyone. the fix for that is of course feminism, but it's a pretty massive barrier for most men to accept that.

  • I got towels, cast iron pans, and a new knife for Christmas and couldn't have been happier.

I'm still a bed by the wall person though. when me and my partner get a house that will probably change, but for now I like having a corner to sit up against.

  • some of us had to work. not everyone has parents who can hold down jobs and bring in money. I worked at a grocery store cause it was easy to grab the perfectly good expired stuff being tossed.
