  • I recently updated my W4 to have a stupidly high deduction so I pay almost no federal taxes.

I fully realize I'll owe this (and maybe penalties) later, but that's a future me problem and, frankly, I plan to delay, deny, and dispose (of the IRS letters) as long as I can without something like jail time.

  • Actually averages $0.058/kWh, rural-ish Oregon, local energy company. I moved here from a place closer to Portland that was ~$0.145/kWh (probably more now).

About half a mile in a couple directions from me the rates go WAYYYYY up. So I'm somewhat lucky. If it ever comes to that though, I'm hoping I can transition to solar.

    1. I'm stuck in a lease that's underwater unless I at least wait until like 60-90 days until turn in
    2. Technically, on paper, I'm currently not being paid, which makes any sort of financing impossible. This is an unfortunate gap for at least another 3 months.
    3. I am currently looking at Lucid or Rivian.
  • Over 3 years of driving my swasticar, I've spent just $800 on electricity to go over 40,000 miles.

Other than replacing the tires once, no other maintenance.

I'm working on terminating my financing without too much loss, and will likely go back to driving a $30/week gas car for awhile until I can figure something out.

It honestly kinda sucks, but fuck Musk.

  • I mean, I guess I could put stickers on it and stuff, but I live near Portland and the Tesla vanadalizing is pretty wild here. Not sure it'd do much.

I've actually been taking an old gas truck around lately just so I don't have to be seen in it. But it sucks because the Tesla costs me like $20/month to drive and the truck costs like $30/week.

  • I have a Tesla that, for financial reasons, I can't get out of for another couple few months and while it is one of my favorite cars I've ever driven (and I've driven many), I can no longer enjoy driving it because Musk is a piece of shit that deserves cancer. Looking at Lucid and Rivian now.

I also used to believe America was a great country, but in my late 20s started to realize it's bullshit (I'm in my 40s now). It was kind of a sad realization and it has only gotten worse since then.

I also used to believe more in people and their ability for empathy and, if presented the facts, they'd ultimately make good decisions. I now believe people are generally selfish and narcissistic, and that most don't give a shit about facts and live entirely on off-the-cuff emotion. It doesn't stop me from caring and trying to help (some) of them, but it's definitely made me more wary and paranoid.

  • Been a couple times, would love to go again! Great food, nice people, great sights. Unfortunately, as a non-white person, leaving the States right now except for some permanent reason seems tenuous to me, and I've a family to consider.

Working on convincing everyone to move, but it's tricky with jobs and pets and extended family kids...but we'll see.

In the meantime, I've been buying eggs from local farmers directly for ~$5-$6 per dozen which is less than the store and half the time is basically a neighbor of mine.
