Carrying on an old tradition. What features / issues should I work on next?

Sorry for replying so late, I clearly need to work out some of my settings because I didn't know about this option in the FAB and I also didn't get any notifications for replies to my comment 🙃. I've enabled the FAB now with scroll to top option, thanks for taking the time to explain!

  • Maybe I am part of that new group? I'm just here for the memes. Lemmy is amusement for me and a way to kill some time. If I want to have deep or meaningful discussions I'll talk to people I actually know (and then I'll also know I'm not wasting my time arguing with a troll). The "casual browsing" content is also lower quality here than on Reddit, but I can't complain, because I don't really contribute, I just lurk.

  • Yep, there actually is a free version that's truly free for some people (Free File), but the company behind TurboTax actively hid it. They instead heavily marketed another version of TurboTax (Free Edition) as "free, free, free!", only to tell people who were already halfway through filing that their taxes were "too complicated" and required large payments after all. Horrible tactics and they were fined for it.

  • I reported a scam ad to YouTube (it said it was a 1000 dollar giveaway to the first I don't know how many people that signed up). When I googled it the top results were all about how it was a scam. Got feedback a few days later: we don't see a problem, the ad is staying up. So they are even knowingly making the choice to show these scams to their users...

  • I would love a Scroll to top button when browsing an instance, or to have an option to Subscribe without scrolling all the way to the top. I tend to visit a new instance, check out a couple pages, and then subscribe. But by then the Subscribe button is really far away.
