Ah, I didn't realize you were lumping home and vehicle maintenance together. My water heater recently died after 19 years of solid use and that was more than a $2k project. I'm dreading the day the furnace goes out. Homes aren't cheap.
I'm driving a 26 year old car and don't even spend $600 on maintenance in a year. $600/month ($7200/year) sounds crazy high. That's like replacing an engine or transmission every year.
Can you please give us an option to disable the feature that collapses comments when they are clicked on? I do this pretty often on accident and loose my place in the comments. Thanks!
Just installed one recently. Got $500 back in a rebate from the electric company and will get 30% back in taxes at the end of the year. These incentives alone bring the cost down to an equivalently sized traditional electric water heater. I haven't had it running long enough to see what the average electric bill reduction will be; however my last bill (and first full one with the new heater) was my cheapest in the 5 years I've been here ($125 vs $150 from the same month last year). I don't expect it will take long to fully pay for itself compared to the highly inefficient 20-year old model it replaced.
What about vaping marijuana?
