You might have misunderstood what I meant by "clean up before the PR." None of the temp commits should end up in the main branch, where people would be bisecting.

Line the other commenter said, there's nothing wrong with committing temp/untested code to a feature branch as long as you clean it up before the PR.

A big part of Project 2025 is eliminating checks and balances, and consolidating power into the Whitehouse. That means taking power away from the house and senate, and from McConnell.

People still use it for the same reason we use email... Why move an entire community to matrix if IRC works fine? Anyone who wants to use matrix can set up a bridge, anyway. And I wouldn't consider discord a good alternative.

I don't know what military life is like, but that hasn't been my experience as a civie. Most men I know wouldn't go to the doctor for something mild enough that it could be treated with ibuprofen.

Can't recommend this enough. I found a lightly used steelcase leap v1 on Craigslist for $120 (one owner). It was the same price as what I paid for a new EZBoy office chair from Costco, but the EZBoy started falling apart after less than a year. This Steelcase is over 15 years old and it looks and feels better than the other chair did when it was new. My back pain also went away when I got it, but I got a new mattress around the same time so it was probably a combination of the two... I do sit at my desk for 10+ hours a day, though.

There are other similar chairs (eg. Herman Miller Aeron), and while I hate to recommend reddit, I haven't found a better source for info on second hand high-end office chairs. If you're considering a new office chair and suffer from back pain (sorry OP, I know you aren't looking for a new chair), consider a higher-end used chair.

If you're sceptical about exit polls you could always look up how they're conducted...

No, your tone came across, I just started worrying about my own tone. And I think we all need to chill out. Stop looking at what's happened in the past 10-20 years and start appreciating the progress we've made in the last 100, and thinking about how we'll make the next step.

I think the distinction is important to some people.

45% of women voters were for Trump. More young women voted for Trump in 2024 than in 2020. I don't think this movement is going to affect Republicans at all.

The difference is that one is identity and the other is a choice.
