  • Oof, it's been a while, and it involved a lot of late-night debugging and searching, so memory is a bit fuzzy.

I believe I ended up buying a RISC OS license and ran the OS in RPCEmu. But tracking down a working RISC OS copy of SF3000 took a lot of digging through internet archives. Honestly I don't even remember in which virtual gutter I ended up finding it. 😅

Had a lot of issues getting the CD image to load, failing installations and the entire emulated machine hanging itself. Eventually I managed to fix all issues, but the moment I got it working I lost the motivation to play it. Which sums up my ADD (or ADHD-I if you feel fancy) quite nicely. 😞

  • I could try that, but at the moment I've spent enough on adapters and docking stations.

Currently I have peripherals, network and charger connected to a docking station and just plug in HDMI directly into my laptop. Not ideal, I would have preferred everything over a single connector, but it is workable enough I guess.

  • StarFighter 3000, didn't expect to see that one here. I've still got my original CD-ROM. 😃

Even got the RISC OS version to run in an emulator a few years ago, which was a painful, but fun process.

  • Tell that to the brand new, pretty expensive laptop I recently got from work which has a whopping 1 USB-C port that also doubles as the charging port. In no way can I get a multifunctional adapter to charge and output DisplayPort or HDMI at the same time. I'm starting to dislike USB and the clusterfuck of incompatible or optional protocols it can carry.

  • Fedora in the 'has a life section'? Yes, having to reinstall an old version of shim-x64 on an encrypted disk, because the new version breaks the handover from UEFI to bootloader (and therefore even rescue mode is not accessible) is something that everybody is able to do in an instant.

Or dealing with a crashing window manager, getting your Bluetooth headset to work in a stable and predictable manner, etc.

I've had Fedora as a daily driver for over two years, switched to Manjaro because I grew tired of having to deal with a constant stream of issues and crashes. I won't say that there is anything inherently bad about Fedora and I may have had a stroke of bad luck, but it is relatively bleeding edge and therefore one should expect issues to pop up from time to time.

  • They defederated (at least at some point) from lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works. Probably more, but I'm too lazy this morning to go digging through their instances list or posts. Also ironically their 'safe space' doesn't give me a very welcoming or safe feeling, so I prefer to steer clear of it.

  • I've tried medication, but unfortunately everything I tried had the side effect of pushing up my heartbeat to unhealthy levels, or causing anxiety issues. So currently unmedicated, although I miss the focus and motivation to get things done they gave me, the side-effects weren't worth it.

I try using todo-lists. But having been diagnosed at 36 it's so hard to break bad habits, especially during work, so I still often have days where I just jump between tasks. I've learned to accept that will happen and try to pay more attention to my to-do list again. Not getting frustrated helps a lot.

I've also taken up piano lessons, having to focus on playing a piece of music has improved my concentration quite a bit.
