What would he be if not fascist? The great slumbering old one who will teach us new ways to sin that leads to our destruction? The one who plans to repopulate the word with his children?
My grandfather never once spoke about the war. His joke in the nursing home was funny . That joke was still different than this joke.
He didn't say he'd enjoy it, he didn't say he was okay with it. He said he can do and he's done it before.
I wasn't in WW2 obviously. I will.comoare it to growing up on a farm. I had to kill starving stray dogs people dropped off in the country side.
I can do it. I can kill a dog. I have killed plenty of dogs. I don't enjoy killing dogs, I'm okay with killing dogs. I can do it.
My grandfather could kill people. Those people I assume were mostly Nazis during the war. He never mentioned random roadside murders. He could kill Nazis. He had killed Nazis before. He didn't say he was okay with killing Nazis. You shouldn't be okay taking a life even if it had to be done.
I was doing the starving dogs a favor... I was never okay with it tho. It should never be fun to take a life, even if you have to. It should never be okay.
We had to pull my grandfather from the nursing home (God rest him. Left is at 104)
We had to pull him because he kept telling the younger residents "I killed the Nazis once I can kill you again"
Hell of a man. Side note he's also part of the reason rabies isn't a big thing in America. He was a chemist for the board of health. Helped to deploy a vaccine that could be put into bait for wild animals to eat.
Another side not: my dad was a trump supporter, my grandad was too old to go vote. My dad used his vote to vote democrat on his behalf . Purely out of respect for my mother's dad.
I disagree. I understand they are vague, I understand that is purposeful so they can prosecute how they chose.
I still argue it's freedom of speech and never illegal.
Again let's use the example of a hypothetical famous or political person. If they were to haphazardly suggest people should invade a federal building. I would say that was irresponsible, foolish, and it's fine to judge someone for doing such a thing. I wouldn't call it illegal to mention you like violence to happen.
However if they were to add things to the statement like "on this day" or "you have to because the sky is green" I'd say there are legal implications for coordination or manipulation with false facts... Saying you want something to happen shouldn't be illegal on its own.
Jokes aside I do understand there is a line between freedom of speech and causing a crime.
"Someone should hurt bob boberson" I feel is okay
"On Tuesday we are going hurt bob boberson because if we don't hell hurt you" thats not as okay. That's a plan, that's spreading lies
If you specify a person it'll get flagged faster. If you mention certain people you might get a visit for the secret service. Still not illegal to say but it's often treated like it is.
Tax return filings in the US. There are free options provided by the paid companies... So that they can prevent real changes.
Kinda like pharmaceutical companies when the public demands cheaper prices. The pharmaceutical companies fight back with "what if instead of that we set up some programs that people can use for cheaper medicine! Win win! Then you don't have to make any real changes that might hurt us?"
Same with taxes. The accounting software companies and advisors companies said "wait hold on, you don't need to make taxes simpler and tank our business. Keep them complicated and well offer free alternatives that are just as easy as our paid services that people can pick if they don't want to pay! Win win!"
Which obviously I think is a crap solution. However if you are paying for someone to do your taxes you should stop. There are a lot of easy free services out there that make it pretty much effortless. They are just as good as the paid services now.
Unfortunately it wouldn't be fair to call him a fucker now. The only thing he's fucking these days is a rolled up pillow. It's disrespectful to the true fuckers of the world. He gets an *
Oh... Right... Well I wouldn't bother with that or be surprised if he doesn't cash his final check. With his new lifestyle and all... Sign paper work and cashing checks wouldnt be very off-grid of him. I bet he would feel like that's a kind of a communication to the outside and he was very clear he doesn't want to do that- actually on second thought I think he wouldn't mind if I brought it to him in cash. I mean he doesn't believe in worldly possessions like I said but he was a man of principle. How about just send his final check to me and Ill give him cash. That we you can still give him what he's owed but he doesn't have to talk to anyone or confirm his whereabouts, which again is something he does not want. That was his main problem, does not want anyone to contact or look for him. I can bring his paycheck to him in cash tho. That's probably fine. I owe him atleast that much for keeping me fed the last two weeks-Metaphorically speaking of course ! You know how like Deb in accounting is in a way keeping food on our table. Greg's fine. Great guy. Doesn't want to be found.
I hate to deliver bad news which is why I didn't speak to you directly... He was very clear that although he hated everyone he specifically mentioned hating you because he finds your calls annoying and he says your most unattractive quality is how concerned you are with the safety of others. It was pretty cold of him to say. I understand tho that you can't help the clearly negative part of your personality so what I can do is say that anytime you want an update on Greg just ask me, and only me ... so that other people don't see how annoying you are. I'm the only one who will understand and help you. So just ask only me and I'll tell you how Greg is doing alone in the woods. I hear he's started a sour dough culture. He's doing very very well.
Remember tho, only me. If you ask anyone else they will leave you, like Greg left you. So we have to keep this a secret or else everyone will hate you. I'm the only one who won't leave you... Because I care.
I know it's tacky to reply to my own comment but I was imagining how that conversation would go and wanted to add it here.
Coworker: wow that's unexpected. I'm kind of shocked to hear that
Me: Greg was too. When I spoke to him he looked very very shocked... At his recent decision. Shocked but also fine ... Looked very healthy... Happier than ever. He was actually so happy about is sudden decision to stop talking to all of his friends and family that he left immediately. I was like "hey Greg shouldn't you pack a bag, or atleast take your wallet, keys, and other important items with you before you leave to the wilderness forever " but he said "no. I choose to not prepare at all because I'm no longer interested in any of my worldly possessions. All I ask is that before leaving you should touch all my knifes and various other places around my apartment. Also throw out my plastic tarp i keep in the storage closet and ask all of my previous friends to never attempt to find or contact me" of course I agreed because how could I refuse a man's last request before he leaves permanently and immediately to live completely alone in the woods.
I'm bringing long pork. It's my great grandfather's recipe from his sailing days. Also Greg told me he can't make it because he's going off-grid for a while. He said you shouldn't worry about him, he's fine, but he quits because he hates all of you. He went into details but I won't repeat them. If you try to contact him he'll say hurtful things to you like he did to me, so don't even try. He's fine, he hates all of you, don't look for him, enjoy the long pork.
Collective punishment is a war crime.
