Gardening / container gardening. I like being able to wake up, go water some plants, and over time they get bigger and bigger. And then eat them. :) I've been having a bit of a rough time since we moved - I've not figured out the best place to put the plants yet. Even still I've gotten some tomatoes, a bunch of lettuce, and the start of two catnip bushes for the local cats. We also converted one of our flower beds into a wildflower garden and that's really nice.
I'd be prepared to give a statement in an interview on how generative AI is a useful tool but doesn't replace programmers, and that even if it someday did, there would still need to be people with programming skill to integrate the generated code into the existing system, understand the implications of the new code on the existing system, etc, but I wouldn't go further than that.
I feel bad, because some parts of Barbie were funny and compelling, but others were just...peak white feminism.
That said, there were witty moments and there were some really fun parts, if you don't have the particular trigger/problem set I have. Make sure to go into it expecting some takes that'll piss off conservatives but also expect to find it offensive to leftist ideals, too.
Oppenheimer was very interesting and I preferred it to Barbie (though I went in expecting the opposite). I have minor critiques over nitpicky stuff like the first hour being a bit snoozy and feeling like it could've been integrated better, but on the whole it was compelling enough to make me sit through a three hour movie.
Shapez ruined me on Factorio. It feels like it took Factorio, removed all the weird distractions, and got down to the distilled essence of the genre. Everything else feels unsatisfying now. Send help!
I tried Project 1999 for Everquest, but the change in culture from 1999 to now is just...a lot. I'd enjoy it again if I could get my friends to play, but I think it'll be too old school for everyone.
They've made everything else as inconvenient as possible, that extends to vote-by-mail too. To request a mail ballot in Florida, you literally have to call, mail, or fax an individual person. How fast do those requests get processed? How often do they get denied for BS reasons? What happens if the person's voter registration gets purged between the request for the ballot and receiving the ballot? How often do mail-in ballots just 'disappear'?
There's just so many problems with mail-in that it doesn't feel like a sustainable, reliable replacement for in-person voting.
I assume by pest control in the soil, you mean diatomaceous earth?
+1 for the apple cider vinegar / dish soap thing. That and diatomaceous earth was enough to get them under control for us. Also make sure you don't have water standing under the pots if you have those little dish things - we found one of them had backed up and a bunch of water was under the pot.
He forgot the safety sunglasses, rookie mistake.
