  • Can you explain why that matters if the story is legitimate?

https://www.opendemocracy.net/ is generally a very trustworthy source so are you implying the story is also false?

  • Is journalism biased because it doesn’t agree with your worldview? That’s one hell of an authoritarian take.

Really feels like we are in that sort of a world these days where if something comes from someone you don't like or agree with it must automatically be fake.

    The legacy of 2016

  • the impact on battery life relative to other apps out of the box is pretty atrocious. Reddit was always the app draining the most or near the most battery regardless of whether I was using it a lot cause it phones home constantly. That is already enough of a problem but then add in the fact that you had sponsored posts ( Adverts ) made to look like real posts that were 1 in every 5 it kind of grates on you.

Then there are the issues around the inbuilt video player that was barely functional at times on mobile for the longest time, it seems to be better now but it used to bug out and not play items properly and constant buffer issues regardless of internet connection speed.

Those were my biggest gripes and using Lemmy with Liftoff it's very noticeable how much battery life I'm saving daily and no I don't have an old phone an iPhone 14 pro

  • One of the first things I made sure of

  • 100% get 2 providers 2 indexers and setup the Arr stack and never touch it again

  • Yeah that's a no go mate, I couldn't even do my job if I had a £100 phone it would end up being a cluster fuck as I need to constantly look at spreadsheets, and multiple email inboxes and work through a web Ui portal and none of that is gonna be a good experience on a phone at that price.

I've used enough of those cheap £100 phones be they new or second hand to know for someone who's actually using their phone to do work they are completely unsuitable.

  • TMP Era is just the best looking classic Star Trek experience some of the designs in my opinion were in things like Starfleet Command the video game like the Akula class, but I have a soft spot for the DS9/First Contact/Star Trek Armada period.

  • I feel like only us in the UK have one of these by default

  • One issue I seem to run into quite a bit now is that if I try to access a community from another instance from this account I get 404 errors as example if I try to go to: https://startrek.website/c/pcmasterrace@lemmy.world

I'm wondering If this is intended behaviour or something I might have done wrong?

  • Honestly Plex/Emby/Jellyfin whichever you prefer is a gamechanger because if you have a large library of content then it just cuts the cord from the subscription services.

I've always been happy to pay for them until I went on holiday last January and realised that none of my services were working due to going to a country that was out of the way and the only way to access them was to use a VPN.

So having my own Netflix is a great thing.

Tailscale while doing the above is also really cool
