Well, that depends on whether the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation stops working or not as that's what, for example, means that Lisbon which is roughly at the same latitude as New York has a temperature which is about 5 - 10C higher.

One of the weirdest effect of Global Warming might very well be that the westernmost parts of Europe get colder (though who knows what other side effects the stopping of the AMOC will bring beyond reducing the temperature moderating effects of the Atlantic along the Westernmost coasts of Europe).

I had the exact same experience: been doing Linux since the 90s, both for fun and professionaly - the latter mainly in pure server configurations - finaly got around to moving my home PC (which is mainly for gaming) to Linux (using Pop!OS, since I have a Nvidia graphics card and it just supports it out of the box) and it just worked.

Only problem I have with it is that on startup of X I usually get a blank screen and have to switch my monitor OFF and back ON again.

Oh, and startup times are a fraction of Windows startup times (my Windows 10 work machine literally takes longer to wake up from hybernation than my home Linux PC takes to cold boot, and they have equivalent SSDs.

I think I got more hassle with Windows than I do with Linux.

If we want to be realistic, then if there was a nuclear explosion that big on planet Earth all the nations around it would be nuclear wastelands from the shockwave and fallout and the rest of the planet would probably be covered in ice from the nuclear winter.

In the US, specifically, higher oil prices feed into higher prices for the fertilizer used in raising corn, which in turn feeds into higher corn prices, which then feeds into almost all food because in the US corn is used directly or indirectly in food to truly insane levels (for example, cattle is fed corn even though it's not natural and causes health problems hence the overused of antibiotics for cattle in the US and sugar is mainly chemically processed corn).

In other countries it's a bit easier to isolate oneself from the indirect effects of oil price rises if you don't drive ICE vehicles and eat locally grown food because this pathway from "oil" to "almost all food" is either not present or far weaker.

Mind you, I agreed that you can never isolate yourself totally from it unless you're some kind of hermit living in your own cave disconnected from everything else and growing your own food using 100% natural agriculture.
