  • I'd rather not create a system where people are constantly looking to create enemies. Like move on from Twitter and Facebook products by all means.

These systems aren't home, and they aren't our friends. You use them, and the individuals who would use and love Lemmy/Mastodon may not be the same people who enjoy bluesky(for now).

Don't create out groups when you don't need to, it just makes you look a little crazy to normies.

  • "Because my consumption isn't problematic."

Like the person who is only drinking a half dozen times a year doesn't have a relationship with alcohol at all. They don't even think about it in a regular day. The only person who would hear a red flag in those responses is someone who does have a relationship with alcohol, and it's probably not a good one.

  • The ADHD drives the anxiety in my experience. The way psychs in my area typically do things is step based, let's treat this symptom that's the worst, then get this under control. I had uncontrolled extreme anxiety that was causing all kinds of other problems, but I also had undiagnosed adhd into my 30's.

After fucking around with meds for a few years, I finally found that the thing that made me THE MOST anxious, was the uncontrolled adhd. I would be ok for a while on just anti anxiety meds, but ADHD + crowds/noise/stimulus could eventually lead to a panic attack.

Long story short, I had the epiphany on an international trip. I would not take Adderall during vacations or weekends, but this time I did, and my anxiety was totally controlled while it was in effect.

When I got back to the states, I got on a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor rather than a stimulant type adhd med, cause you build that drug up in your body like an SSRI and it provides is effects consistently. This has made the biggest difference in my ability to interact with the outside world without anxiety.

  • There's a really fucked up issue in Korean adoption that was fixed a while back. Basically, once a parent finished the process and had custody of the child in the US, the parent needed to do an additional bit of paperwork to give the child US citizenship.

They closed the loophole a long time ago, but many(20 fucking thousand potentially) adult adoptees don't even know their parents didn't bother to finish the process.

Now the Korean international adoption processes is mostly closed, cause it was an exploitive nightmare that was more like selling babies than anything.

And yeah the other are just people overstaying a visa, or stayed past the point of needing a visa. 90 days.

  • Man, if only they had spent all their campaign money talking about this instead of whatever the hell it is they did, they might have won the election!

Instead of having any sort of resolve, or appearing to actually give a shit about any of that, we got a full centrist push focusing on making it ok for conservatives to vote for a democrat, rather than actually trying to organize their base. The end result is DNC members abandoning LGBTQ and leftist issues. Instead they ratchet right to keep the government moving forward.

Nearly the entire DNC is rotten and will self protect, like this, rather than engage in any actual change.

  • I don't even think it's this, you look at Twitter and see their American numbers tanking, becoming more like that doesn't make sense from a business standpoint.

Now look at how every billionaire and big corp is bending over backwards to give Trump money. In his mind, a lot of them were complicit in 2020 for his loss, and everyone knows he looks for revenge.

These people like Zuck have no actual morals, he's just hanging a sign that says he's on their side, desperate not to be targeted. This is the same way he acted with Obama, the left just liked it.

  • I almost don't have a choice but to be optimistic. There are more prominent people who are to left of the DNC who are going to demand more power. I see that happening now and being rebuffed by the old guard. It's a matter of time and I hope it doesn't break the machine entirely, we need the stability of institutions.

  • Anyone Democrat could have won if they did the populist thing and didn't split the difference on Gaza. I think Biden and Harris might have been the only two people who could have lost to him!

Biden wasn't going to run a different campaign to the one that was losing to Trump when he finally stepped out. Nor did Harris. They both ran losing campaigns against a dude who's a fucking felon.

The message last time from leftists in the party were that they held their nose to vote for Biden in 2020, it a referendum AGAINST Trump. Well, the DNC loaded another 2 bullets into the revolver, maybe 3 if you included Liz Cheney at the end there, rolled the wheel, and fired a bullet right into the country again.

Mark my words, instead of moving left to capture the voters again, they'll ratchet right. Fuck the DNC.

  • Biden started this election -400 electoral votes in his own polling. Kamala Harris was the least popular, most divisive candidate in the primary (even as gamed as the 2020 primary was) and left at the bottom of the race.

You are right. You even see the echo chamber narrative that Biden could have still beaten Trump on bluesky being the preferred narrative.

DNC has almost fully pulled a "It's the children who are wrong" and I'm not convinced they will ever have a fair, open primary again. This was a historic self-own that saw Trump picking up support in nearly all categories.

DNC has been playing Russian roulette with their primaries and voting base for years, honestly the gun has fired a couple times...
