Neither of the parts of that comment I quoted could reasonably be talking about Rainfurrest, first of all. Second of all, nowhere did I say it wasn't a big deal; I said the people who perpetrated that were quite severely punished and nothing even remotely similar to that has happened before or since. Lastly, I can't help but notice you didn't reply to the other person who replied to you asking why the entire furry fandom should be criticized because of the actions of a tiny handful of their members nearly a decade ago.

You don't think everyone who gets mad at race swapping is racist, but when I point out examples of people liking one thing that was race swapped white to black but not another, and present an argument for why, and another argument regarding why no one got mad at the first three items in the meme, you don't even address them. You simply refuse to accept any explanation besides racism and accuse me of cherry-picking.

Sure, some conservative grifters are going to get mad when they see a black person no matter what. But the fact that a lot more people, including many self-professed libs, got mad at Ariel should probably tell you that the fact that those grifters exist doesn't mean that everyone who dislikes it when characters are race swapped is a conservative who just flies into a rage whenever they see a black person.

I'm not mad because Ariel is black now. I'm mad because they changed her race rather than create a new character. I'd be more mad if a black character became white in a remake.

Based on my conversations with other self-proclaimed anarcho-communists in this very same thread, and that exchange mirroring the experience of every other anarcho-communist I've talked to on Lemmy apart from you, yeah, I kinda did.

But that's besides the point. What I want is to be left alone. I want to get on with my life without someone demanding to know whether I believe Israel should exist or not, because both sides in that conflict are committing war crimes and the idea of reading seventeen Wikipedia pages about the historical conflict of those two countries so that I can choose which side to support and more effectively defend myself in Internet arguments I never asked to have doesn't really appeal. I want to be able to not fully commit to being vegan quite yet without someone helpfully telling me I'm a murderer. I want to look at memes without somehow getting into a discussion about economic systems. Most of all I want to be able to want that without being called a fascist.

The ideas leftists present are good ideas. But I would like there to be a space I can go every now and again where I don't have to think about them.
