  • Manual to de-escalating potentially dangerous situations for an American policeman:

Whatever the threat is, grab your gun and open fire until you feel there is no more threat incoming.

Idk man, in a normal country, a police officer would be interrogated for drawing their gun in a fucking train station full of people. FOR DRAWING IT. But here we have a couple of "heroes" that open fire in a fucking train station against a guy who didn't pay the ticket and apparently it's all fine.

  • Fact is these devices are not illegal because they can run retro games. What is illegal is selling them with the games inside.

If the batteries were not legally compliant, that's a whole different matter. But the article puts the focus on how they could play "licensed" games and were illegal when that's a blatant lie. These consoles are completely legal (from a copyright standpoint) if they are sold without any games and you then get the games by yourself.

  • No surprise here. Those were idiots trying to profit from someone else's labour. It's not illegal to sell a retro gaming console capable of playing gba games (to name one), what's illegal, and these imbeciles should have known is to sell them full of licensed games.

    Well deserved imho.

Edit: gotta love getting downvoted for this. I guess people are butthurt because someone profiting from piracy got screwed. Well, that's how it is. These guys could have sold the consoles without games and nothing could have happened. Piracy by itself shouldn't be about profiting from other people's work. That's why every single cracker group tells you that if you paid for their cracked games, you were scammed.

But I guess people think that profiting from piracy is fine... Oh well...

  • Will it? If they have no real competition, they could set the price they want. Because Nintendo is not an alternative and Microsoft seems to be aiming at other stuff that is not consoles anymore. And many people still think that a console is easier and less troublesome when you only want to play games (even though it's not anymore the case).

  • There's something unsettling about all this. They are selling ps5 pro at an insane price tag. What's going to happen when PS6 is released? Are they going to sell it under the price of the pro? Probably not. So it means PS6 will probably have a starting price of, at least ps5, pro price tag. Are we going to see the next gen at prices over 1000€?

  • 799€ here, 920€ with a disc drive. That is stupidly insane for a console. We're almost breaking the 1000€ barrier for an "upgrade", not even the new generation.

I'd bet my money Sony is just testing the grounds to see if they can set PS6 price in a few years over the 1k barrier.
