iOS shows a dialog for choosing a browser option in the EU now. Nothing to do with engines.

The new browser option iOS exposed is a very strict and limiting custom API to make a browser engine. It’s purposefully obtuse to be terrible but compliant.

It also just landed in gnome.

Yes it did fallback to x11 but it was truly a fallback, no developer used x11, features were ignored there, and it was just a worse experience.

You just don’t notice what doesn’t work, like video decoding in your browser. You probably didn’t use a laptop with hybrid graphics. And you might not use GNOME, which has defaulted to wayland which was broken for many years. And you might use an outdated kernel so it never broke. And you don’t use software that used modern linux features like dmabuf.

Its fair to not have this situation but its an easy one to happen.

iCloud backup is core to the OS, all user settings and app data is there. You can manually do it on a Mac apparently but no other service.

Because the HDMI Forum won’t allow AMD to make an open implementation of it.

You can always download a copy for backup.

Also its just hostile hardware. I can run Linux on any PC I own. Only a few phones support installing it and have bad drivers even if.

2% is still very low, and thats not necessarily spread evenly throughout different areas/communities.

They do specify cite the Tears of the Kingdom release and increasing revenue to Yuzu, maybe that motivated them more.

Anyway I don’t mean they certainly have no case. We'll see.

Just being an expensive pain to the developer dissuades future developers.

Developers can’t just move… they will always be a target themselves.

PackageKit is not used on atomic. Gnome-software has a direct rpm-ostree and flatpak plugin.

Only layer if the software doesn’t work in a sandbox.
