  • I am so tired of this going high shit. Going high means you don't understand the urgency.

So happy to see Harris being scrappy and fighting for people. The need is (and was) bigger than any politicians' dignity.

  • She's the VP. Other than words, there's not a lot she even can do.

That's where this lot of concerned people will always "be right" until she actually has power. And all this concern appears targeted to undermine that very outcome.

Even if she went full public and said all support would be withdrawn, it wouldn't be enough because people would want it now.

But she's not even elected let alone president.

Did you see what it took to get Biden to drop from the race? He's even more serious about Israel, I think.

There is no "winning" against this new raking of insisting she act as president and I do something. She can't.

    Yet.

  • She's far closer to the right side of history than Biden.

If he has his faculties and he's doing this, this is a huge sin that will stain him throughout history.

If he doesn't have his faculties, I'd rather he let more capable people make decisions.

  • Biden is very content playing the chump, or far worse, on this topic.

It's the moment he lost my respect. He got some back by stepping aside. He'd get more by stepping down.

I don't know how he's getting played this hard, but I don't want to see a single American life risked by Biden's willingness to defend Israel's right to be 1940s Germany.

I'm not pro either side. I am anti-genocide. Israel's behavior in this will alienate them from the major nations of the world for decades.

I'd rather we stop sending anything to them. Including just the $. Look at where it goes.

  • I've been reflecting on your answer and I keep returning to one point...

In your example the rule in favor of the abortion seeker. As a principled and partial matter, how do these differ from today?

Is your argument that states can and maybe should keep laws around after they've been ruled demonstrably against the Constitution? If so, wouldn't justice only be granted with those with the means to appeal to SCOTUS?

Despite the possibility of tone sounding argumentative, it's not. I think I'm missing something here and I'm trying to figure it out. Thread is old enough I suspect it's just the two of us here anyhow.

  • Shapiro has an extended history of being quite sympathetic to Israel to the point of problematic statements and treating anti-genocide protest as something it's not.

Walz has none of that baggage and seems to care about people. He's a far better (from what I know) person to be one heartbeat away from the presidency.

He should campaign well and I expect him to keep hitting Trump. Vance will self-own without too much assistance. Punching up will be a great look.

If Walz is her pick, I'm giddy.

I'm fairly far left and I want human rights for all. I don't understand why the party of small government needs to know my internet habits, what happens behind closed doors, what books are read, or why specific medical care (gender affirning or reproductive) is sought.

We're people. The republican nanny state can fuck right off.

That said, I'd like a better safety net. The nation has the money for it if we had a rational tax code. This combination on the ticket gives me hope that all the above are priorities.

I do NOT want Shapiro except as a calculated play for Pennsylvania. I have 0 interest in a war to defend Israel's right to be 1940s Germany.

  • After Israel has gone along with Bibi's actions, I dunno how much of an ally they are.

Maybe we can let them sort out their defense and not drag us into a war. Russia wants multi-front. Let them have it.

But we don't need to be the counterpoint. Israel is becoming a version of Germany from the 40s. Very willing to have millions die.

    That's not a strategic ally.
