  • I did mine manually over a weekend. Built in variable length of time, transition periods and variable brightness vmbased on how bright it is (outside) when it runs.

There's actually 3 sets of 150+ RGBs. They're similar, but on is warmer, one is cooler, meaning the lights aren't all a match.

  • Switchbot Curtain 3 for curtain rods. I like them, but carefully made sure they'd never have to climb the telescoping part of the rods. That... That it didn't seem awesome at.

All I did was extend the rods to the side maintaining symmetry and made sure the ridge was at mid-point.

  • Sunset routine every evening, steps through over 150 separate RGB values over 45 minutes. Improved our sleep.

Turn off the cable box every night since the dwvs love to install new updates at 3 Am which iniitaites a restart, which, in turn, illuminates the entire bedroom. An unforgivable sin.

Recently: decided we'd get curtains and make everything smart. It wasn't a bank buster to get a couple gizmos. Night is dark and daytime the curtains open when my wife comes home - giving her the natural light she covets. Makes our humble 1000 Sq ft seem larger, besides.

Now replacing our Google hub with an old old tablet. The S4 seems almost perfect and wallpanel is great. Especially if coupled with ha-Floorplan.

  • And working to make voice and AI something we can all have... locally. I'm just a humble apartment dweller, but HA is embedded in a lot of our home.

Wouldn't care to have it any other way.

I pay annually and consider this the most valuable subscription we have for the family.

  • There's multiple issues with this but a lot of them come down to: it's Google.

They will charge. They have heaps of money, they will enzhittify. They will kill and recommend a new less capable app.

They're Google and I'm moving away from them hard.

I do use YT a lot, and for now I pay. But give me a little time and that won't be as true.

  • People are allowed to express their discontent

Generalizing your statement a bit and hoping that's okay. Because I agree generally and specifically.

They are allowed. And I am. And you are. Now we're both hypocrites.

We all disapprove. My point isn't that they shouldn't have the opinion, it's that it seems like they're stopping there.

And by pushing the same incomplete typically negative narrative, it's not helping. It's wallowing. It's feeling as an endpoint.

There is no community to create for people who want to see people who need a community create one.

There is a place for saying, "okay, cool. What now?"

So far, it's mostly complaint. No call to action. It's as if the feeling is the point. And that seems odd.

The main call to action has been to not vote for Biden. There has been that one.

  • I agree. If they have this much anger about it, I'd think they'd do something.

As humans, I think, we evolved feelings and emotions because they inform what we do. Ideally. If we sit in the feeling, we're not gaining value. Some feelings (like grief).. there's less a person can do.

But anger, frustration, love, sympathy, all these things, I'd think, are best when they lead us somewhere. Especially if it's productive (which requires other brain systems).

    We can do better.

There's no community to create for people who wish people who need a community had one.

  • I'm doing one better than them: providing a positive step/solution towards improvement.

What's the point of being in a community when it's always a couple people screaming their discontent? They're getting down voted beyond 0 often, yet they persist?

It means the community has spoken and maybe it's time for someone to step in. If posters can't not just neg all over a community, someone should step in.

It looks odd that no one has.

  • No. The people who have all that grievance and time... They can do that as a show that they're trying to be part of the solution.

Or... They can keep actively working to suppress voter turn out or enthusiasm for other genuinely good candidates. Because all they're pushing is negative press.

  • How many articles stating the same thing will we need to push so you feel casually informed?

Where are the articles and links to what's being done to change things in a way that still ensures we don't slip into Trump ville?

Because those are Not being posted.

I want the country to move basically about to where Sanders is. But I don't see any of that in these articles.

I'll note that one of the left-most Congress people, Sanders, is clear we should vote Biden in the general, despite his failings.

  • I haven't received these yet. They're in significant demand and order times are long.

When I ordered I was supposed to receive them about now. Now the order is pushed to June. According to those who have them, they work well enough. If I want, I can tie in an AI (cloud or local).

  • FS may be under significant stress. But they are also telling stories with unadulterated disdain and toxin. Stories that, if discovered by the individuals, would cause serious harm to well... Their whole family.

This isn't the place, I wouldn't think, to vent ones toxins. But that's what's happened here, and to a sympathetic, accepting audience.

Someone was going to have enough with the toxin. Enough with the idea that mom isn't good enough while trying to be helpful.

Ive been through shit too. The people around me were going through it too. Compassion was in order on all sides.

Edit: I understand that my message isn't the most delightful, but the down votes further indicate: lemmy has a maturity issue.

Getting care at one of the best medical institutions (despite imperfections, and yes doctors are people too) at moms expense of money, time, and emotional work. And the issue is that she's just entirely annoying. C'mon.

I get it. But it's the price of admission or stay home. If these threads make it to mom, it's a problem. And it's immortalized on the internet.

Any troll could f this up. It. Is. Immature. Fool hardy. And it's being given a welcoming platform.

I get that the resolution was not satisfying, but there was very little gratitude in those posts. He's not the only person on this ride.
