  • Where's a Garak? the new hit game of finding characters like Garak in other media!

  • Yeah, you got what I was trying to ask about! Also interesting that you take the games angle, as they have a sort of extra "problem" imo apart from narrative trope stuff, which is related to the gameplay. Similar situation as with stories just with gameplay one may have experienced a million times already.

If the story's compelling enough, it can help pull a game through, or vice versa, where the gameplay helps you gloss over an average story, but ideally they're both doing enough that you have a great experience all around. Personally I've hit a snag with games lately where it's the gameplay stuff more than the stories that haven't been managing to keep my interest.

  • To clarify a little, it's not so much experiencing for plot twists as it's a matter of becoming overfamiliar with some story structure/beats in genres so that they may lose some of their appeal or interest. It's kind of like the journey ceases to be a journey after awhile and is a little more like a regular commute, so even if you were more after the journey than the destination, you're gradually in a weird spot where you're out of luck.

Does that somehow...Not happen for folks who continue to enjoy genre fiction? That's more of what I'm wondering.

  • Is that in the form of the supporting statistical data, for the maths alone, or...? For logic I have a better understanding, but maths has been more of a struggle for me.

  • Huh, that does seem like it could get pretty mindnumbing. Thanks for the reply, hope you're at something better these days!

  • What if so? Well, then that's not the whole of academia that they dislike, only maybe those parts being mixed with the others, and as you note, there are apparently jobs in the field/industry that do allow one to avoid some of those parts they dislike.

  • Ooooh, it's that kind of name. Yeah that's bad. Thanks for clarifying!

  • Thanks for the insight!

    Use good shoes [...]

This is such a tricky part of it all, given different gaits/fits/feet though, isn't it? That's been my experience anyway.

  • Would specialized velcro for beards help?

  • Some poor bastard had to go get that out of stock, bring it into repair, go over the entire lot, and take a special pencil to color in those little scratches, or mark it as unrepairable.

...This is so simple it's making me ask to be sure...This specific repair gig was...Coloring in scratches?

  • Aren't almost all (if not all) the storage manufacturers guilty of futzing up their production at some point? In the different threads concerning this issue with SanDisk, I'm pretty sure I've read of people recounting issues with many of the different manufacturers.

Doesn't help that there seem to be fewer real options thanks to consolidation over the years.

  • I don't eat tofu, nor been around folks that do (or do and talk about it), so I'm whiffing here. Is it because tofu spoils when left open, or is there a pronunciation part I'm missing?

  • Isn't the scramble for grant funding and pressure to write papers more of the...Industrialization/capitalization(?) of academia than basic academia?

  • "Why is this documentation like this? Who hurt them?"

  • Trying out new things in life is an effective way to learn something new about yourself and the world around you.

Part of why I'm asking tbh! I'm blanking on stuff I've avoided based on names, but I'm hoping some replies here might highlight them as, "Avoided but...!"

  • The World of Warcraft videos and not the Call of Duty ones? Which makes me wonder, might Activision have the most videos with the most dislikes on YouTube?

  • Sorry, I wasn't sure whether I wanted to focus on shaved/trimmed hair vs. cut hair when asking, but shaved's more of what I was wondering about, as I think that's often washed/flushed away?

I also thought it was a fun mundane question about something one otherwise may not think much about.
