Would reminding them that Trump is a major reason abortion rights are on the backslide in the US help? Or that Republicans are running around banning (or trying to ban) books from libraries? Or that Republicans are largely refusing to allocate taxpayers' money to help taxpayers?
On 5, have you heard of Crying Suns? Crying Suns is more in the vein of FTL, so not a deckbuilder, but if memory serves I think it has the branching map to it.
It's received some praise for its setting from what I gather, but I haven't gotten around to seriously playing it, so can't speak much to that.
Thanks! I'll have to keep this in mind next time I'm getting supplies to try some of these out. I initially started with some standard Pentel pens and some blank index cards for practicing on when the thought struck me to try out making some small cards.
What might help to effect this change? If I'm not mistaken, a number of states are almost under single-party rule, particularly those that might benefit most from this kind of change.

I agree, however I think most anyone that may only be grumbling may find themselves doing so as they're stuck on the question of, how do I get involved? Where do I get started with any of it?
The answers will vary by locality and how they're organized, but some direction (that is, examples) is better than none.
I'm not familiar with those, so this might be a bad suggestion, but the short description makes me think this may still fit, have you read The City & the City by China Miéville?
It's set in two overlapping cities, whose inhabitants diligently disregard the other city's until they formally cross the borders, and it's a crime to do otherwise. It's a pretty compelling read imo!

Yeah, to elaborate a little, the question's more aimed at finding activities that aren't actively trying to rope you into buying more and more to keep up. A couple classic examples of what I had in mind to avoid would probably be like a trading card game or some tabletop game with collectible(?) miniatures (not sure what those games are called), whereas with crafting hobbies it's simply a necessity upon exhausting craft materials.

Neocities came up in another question I asked, and so I looked into it. They have a couple ways they handle funding, via donations or becoming a supporter and subscribing for a little each month.

On Lemm.ee you have to use an external image host and post links from them due to issues with keeping people from posting illegal imagery. Not sure how other instances have gone about mitigating that (if they have, they may just not be as cautious).
