You started out strong. It is indeed interesting that Trump never used the term "cease fire", that genuinely is a good point. Maybe it has to do with the fact that a huge portion of his base are racist assholes.

Sadly, you just drove straight off a cliff by trying to excuse the provider of the genocide tools for the genocide. You and I and everyone who may read this all know full well that Joe and his crew is absolutely covered in Palestinian blood. To act otherwise is the exact issue at hand. We have two large groups of people, yourself being in one of those groups, that have this idea that you are justified in lying as much as you need to in order to paint your side as wholly innocent. This helps nobody. It may trick some young, impressionable children into believing your story, but it doesn't actually help. In this way, you are identical to the people who look at lying, stealing, raping, pedo(most likely), felon Donny, and brush it all aside and say it's all lies.

Has Trump done anything wrong?! Absolutely! He has done so much wrong! But he hasn't played an absolutely pivotal role in the inhumane slaughter of over 100,000 innocent people as a response to a couple hundred being slaughtered when a bunch of rebels busted down a fence that totally could have been prevented.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond thoughtfully. I highly doubt that you believe what you wrote, though. I highly doubt that you are proud to be on the team that is absolutely addicted to grinding Palestianian children into paste on a daily basis. You just feel like you have some sort of sick right to defend disgusting politicians doing disgusting things because if you don't, then you have to question if you've been making a mistake for a long time. Your ego won't allow it. That's the problem.

All we have to go on is what people have done. Trump never genocided anyone. Trump barely supplied any weapons or did any warring. This is not the case with nearly every president for the last 100 years. Biden has shown his absolute willingness to fund and supply weapons for a genocide. I can't tell the future, but I can honestly look at the past because I'm not hell-bent on ignoring all the bad things one side does.

And they are not as employed by putin as you think they are.

Right, since biden gives the bombs to Israel to actively drop instead of hopping in a plane and dropping them himself, it is OK. I know you know the kinds of gymnastics you are forced to play here. I also know that if anyone else who isn't on your side was doing this, you would be all over them. This is exactly the problem. Intellectual dishonesty in political discussions. You feel like you deserve the right to lie because you think the other side does the same. They do do the same, the result of this is you two groups of self justified compulsive liars living in your own echo chambers, making no progress and learning nothing.

You have much more power than your vote. You have your honest discussion(instead of lying to "trick" people into thinking your candidate is amazing). You have what you choose to do with your money. I never told anyone not to vote. I never told anyone to vote for the lying stealing rapist felon trump.

I was referring to prediction markets, not betting against the house in Vegas. With prediction markets, the odds are directly dependent on the bets other people make. They have a phenomenal record, and there have been lots of studies done on them. The most relevant recent one is that nearly every market has had Harris as being twice as likely as winning for nearly the last month. Most people just found out a few days ago that biden was dropping out. Somehow, this was already shown in pretty much every prediction market. When peoples money is on the line, in a large group, they tend to be quite good at predicting things.

Wow, you really are young, aren't you? It seems impossible to you that an American might be living outside of America? I assure you that it is not nearly unfathomable, as you may think. Not everyone in different time zones is in enemy territory, and not every American is currently residing in America. Guess what, the earth isn't flat either. Yeah, you're absolutely correct. That's why I advocate for honest discourse, even if it means making your preferred party look how they actually are. This whole thing where both sides feel justified in lying because the other side does it is absurd.

It's going to blow your mind, but guess what, Europe, where I live, is near Russia. I know it probably feels like everything outside of the US is foreign/Russia to you, but it's not actually the case. Maybe get your education somewhere other than reaffirming news sources.

There's some misunderstanding of definitions going on here. A degenerate gambler is someone who repeatedly makes bad bets. According to you, you would be betting against the people making bad bets. This is what nearly all successful business is, betting against people you think you are smarter than. The real issue here is that you don't actually believe your own comment. That's fine, I don't believe it either.

It is a tough situation. I'm a huge believer in honest discourse. I think the more people are completely honest, the better, even if the other side lies. What we generally have now is two large factions that both believe they have a duty to hide any negative things about their own team, and desperately try to exaggerate any good things about their own side. This just results in nearly nobody involved in the discussion being honest, and both sides feeling like their own lies are justified "because the other side lies too, and we have to lie to trick undecided people into joining our side".

When lemmy was younger, there was so much more honest discourse. It was fantastic. Unfortunately, it has largely slipped into the same echo chamber garbage as so many other networks. It does nobody any good when people just come on, lie about their side, and downvote anyone who mentions things that happened that make their team look bad. This just makes people start to believe their own lies over time, which makes it even harder for either side to even be able to understand the other sides point of view.

I'm a little jealous of you. You're obviously so young and unexperienced, there are so many massive changes in your life right around the corner as soon as you conquer this whole thing where you feel like you are the center of the universe and always right. Being wrong and realizing it is how we grow. It really truly doesn't mean you are a weak or inferior person. I know that may seem crazy to you now, but when you realize it, you will be so much better off, and you will quit wondering around so aimlessly thinking you are God's gift to earth.

The irony. Welcome to the very beginning of your time watching us politics. You're in for a bumpy ride, and your bright-eyed bushy tailed expectations are not going to be able to hold on much longer, I'm sorry to say.
