IF Trump is an asset, those billionaires might find out that they are not quite as untouchable as they think. Because that's how Putin consolidated power in Russia. He sent the richest and most powerful oligarch at the time to a show trial and labor camp.

I don't deny the possibility, but that sounds like a lot of foresight which I'm not ready to attribute to Trump or his team. Additionally I don't think they care about "the people". The voters served their purpose. They are meaningless to them now. They will continue to produce anger and outrage, and will extract as much money as possible while it's still possible.

I didn't follow these donation news too closely, but from the headlines it always sounded like they do it personally!? Maybe Trump makes a point out of it that it comes from them personally? Would make them personally attached to him.
