My current project is building a (almost) 1gb Java rich client which takes around 2minites to load... while it's merely a gui with some small client to client capabilities. The technical debt is insane, and it's only getting worse because neither can they afford to rebuild it from scratch.
TA is just a gem. I like how the base game is pretty moderate unit-wise. And then they just said "fuck it" and added whatever cool shot they (probably always) wanted.
And the soundtrack kicks ass, "March unto death" being my favorite.
You're right it's not only the US. But he's also right that phones are not the only reason / common denominator. Basically every country has a rigged economy and a two class justice system - some more, some less. But the ruling class secured their privileges everywhere. Our planet's doom looming over the horizon is also a global phenomenon.
What unrestricted access to the internet is doing: it's making everyone much more aware of those things, their global scale. Everyone gets a feeling of how bad it is because there seems to be no greener pasture anymore.
Climate change will be addressed by either a deus-ex-machina-like technological breakthrough, or by means outside of electoral politics.
And we can rule out the technological breakthrough. It's unlikely, although not impossible, to happen, BUT it's absolutely impossible to be implented on a large enough scale to make change.
The same people who don't want wind turbines or solar farms within eye sight of their backyard are suddenly to accept something completely new and not well understood or tested... on an unprecedented scale? Sign me up for a laugh.
edit: All those bastards advocating some world saving technology, just so they don't need to change something now, ignore the fact that it'll also be them who will prevent that technology - if it comes. NIMBYs stay NIMBYs.
No already shut down plant has been restarted into operation. Only the grace period until the final shut down has been extended for half a year - only for plants which were scheduled to shut down this year (but haven't been shut down yet), and only under the condition of the gas emergency status.
So I upgraded from "pro coal" to "pro fossil fuel" now? Yay. Maybe if we continue this discussion we can also get rid of that narrative.
Saying "that's the reality" doesn't make it a reality. You can repeat it as often as you want, it makes you look like a self absorbed jerk - because it's simply not true. Just because it's a nice narrative to push for you not every opponent to nuclear energy is a proponent to coal. Quite the contrary I'd figure.
The single last coal plant started operation in 2020, and none has been "re-opened". Some are kept in prolonged reserve mode until 2024 (half a year longer than originally planned), IF the Alarmstufe Gas stays in effect.
Maybe try with some verifiable facts and stop lying.
Except nobody is advocating coal. So what do you want to turn back on him exactly?
Just because you developed a hate boner for anyone who's not on your nuclear train doesn't mean they're pro coal. If you need to put words in others people's mouths to confirm yourself... you're wrong.
With your reaction you just confirmed what he described.
Dictatorships (or any otherwise ideology driven entities) will have their very own problems training AI. Cannot feed the AI material which goes against your own ideology or it might not act in your best interest.
I like the idea (I don't want to call it a fan theory) that it resembles a typical "first love" relationship. Whose first relationship / young love was not cringe and full of awkward situations (for bystanders)?
On the other side her dying because she lost the will to life... is kind of a good explanation for an unlikely death in such an advanced civilization.
Obviously they could simply keep her alive despite any actual medical condition. So what else could she die of... except for a spiritual (I don't know a better description) reason.
Kind of a "so bad it's actually good" explanation.
